Those who consider the bible a science textbook have calculated the universe between 6,000 and 10,000 years old. Those who have actually looked at the universe, the planet, etc. have estimated that the universe is about 13,700,000,000 years old and the earth about 4,000,000,000 years old.
And regarding your comment of one day for god is like 1000 years, let me point out that the "day" as a measurement of time is only relevant on this planet. Leave our little rock behind, and that unit of measure (and for that matter, week, month, year or eon) lose all contextual meaning.

In fact, I think the great dinosaurs (such as the t-rex) were here perhaps millions of years before man came on the scene. The Bible supplies no proof of this, but there are ways of understanding the creation narrative that permit this view. Here's one of them:
The original creation is described in Gen. 1:1. The six days described in subsequent verses may have taken place millions or even billions of years after the original creation. In other words, God made the universe billions of years ago. He put all kinds of creatures, including dinosaurs, on this planet. The earth, at that time and for millennia to follow, was "without form and void"---i.e., not fit to serve as a habitat for mankind. So, at some point, perhaps millions of years after a comet hit the earth, destroying the dinosaurs and filling the atmosphere with debris and causing unparalleled catastrophic events such as massive tsunamis and earthquakes and flooding of huge land masses, God began clearing away the debris from the atmosphere allowing sunlight to pass through---"Let there be light." He caused further atmospheric changes---"Thus God made the firmament." He caused the submerged land to rise up out of the waters, thus forming the oceans and the great land masses---"Let the waters...be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear." And on it goes. On the sixth day, He made man in His image and after His likeness and gave him dominion over all the earth and its many creatures.

Creation of the earth is five days older than man.
The scripture that says that a thousand years is like a day is not refering to time, but to the patience of God, and is not relevent to this disussion.
Time itself is a concept that's hard to capture. What time is in mathematical terms is the distance from point A to poiunt B divided by the speed of light. So for time to exist, you need two things, matter and light. The first spoken words of God after the creation of the Heavens and the Earth "Let there be light". It was at this instant that time began.
One of the greatest achievements of Albert Einsein is that He discovered that time was a physical property, and can be changed by mass, gravity, and acceleration. God, not being effected by these properties, is outside the dimmension of time.
Another thing scientist are just now discovering, the speed of light is not a constant. Light, like everything else in the universe, is under the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, or the Law of Decay, which says everything is breaking down and wearing out. Mathematicians have calculated the speed of light has been decreasing on a curve, and that 6,000 years age, was 10,000,000 time faster than present. So that explains how we can see stars that are billions of light years away.
The length of a year in Biblical times: Every major civilazation had a calender that was based on a 360 day year. In 701 B.C., every calender change to add the extra days we now have. Astrnomers theorize that a near pass by of the planet Mars threw earth into a different orbit, causing the longer year. This near pass by is also mentioned in the Old Testement book of Joshua.
One comment to Gallivanting: Read the account in Genesis. The order of Creation is not even close to the therory of evolution.

Under 10,000 years supposedly. Yes I'm talking about the creation. However, no one really knows for sure how much time a single "day" mentioned in the beginning was accounted for. One day could refer to a single phase in time. So one day could be billions and billions of years. The 24 hour day wasn't even invented till several thousand years later. The creation in the Bible would then fit the evolution theory perfectly as well. Because things were created in the same chronological order in both theories.

creation stareted five days before man was created and finished on the sixth day when God created animals as well as man. though the term day could mean a period of time such as a thousand years, i believe it means 6 literial days. afterall it is God we are talking about. consider this it took God 6 days to make the earth. so why did it take him that long? i don't know how old the earth is but it is in thousands not millions.

If one day is as 1,000 years, that means that Adam and Eve must have lived to at least over 1,000 years of age since they were created on the 6th day. That is ridiculous. I know Methuselah and all that crap, yeah whatever.

I believe that Moses, who wrote the first three books of the bible , knew exactly what he was talking about. Because he was led by God to do so.

About 10,000 years old.
The creation story is man's interputation of how things began. In reality, man may of been here a lot longer.
