The info stamped on the matte is probably the photography studio.
The other answerers are correct, you would need to find the former owners of the house, and ask questions. You could probably find that out at your county recorder's office. Good luck. It would drive me crazy too.

Find the oldest people that have lived nearby the house for the longest periods of time. Show the photo to them and ask if the person or people or place of the photo look familiar. Many times, children will look like their parents. If the photo was taken outside, they may recognize a house or building and remember some history about it. You may be very surprised! Older people love this kind of detective work.

I'd check with your local current photographers, they've probably heard of this one. In addition, you may try the local colleges. Their professors may be well-versed in the local history of photographers. Another good source is local churches that have been established for quite some time. If all those fail, try the local nursing homes. Tell the front desk what you're there for and ask if they could suggest some of the guests who they think could be most helpful to you. Good luck on your adventure!

You're going to have to turn gumshoe to solve this one!

Look on history sites relating to Salina for pictures that might have clues, see if you can find information about the studio that took the picture, and that may lead to more information.

Go to the local, if there is still one, photography studio. They might recognize the stamp on the back. It may not be a persons name but a studio stamp. It is worth a shot. They might also be able to tell you how to go about researching it.

It would be NEARLY impossible. One would have to go to the previous owners of the house.. getting in contact with them and/or their living relatives to try to find out if they have any knowledge of the photos.. Trying to contact the living relatives, however, would be a task in itself.

Yeah, research the previous owners. Your town records should have that info and then find living relatives.
