prayer can move mountians!there was a church in the mountains who had been given some land to
build a bigger building by a member who had died. when the church was
built about 2 weeks before it was due to be opened the building
inspectors came. they said that the car park was too small and until it was
enlarged the church could not be used. the problem was all the available
land had been used and a mountain prevented the extension from being
made.
> the pastor called a prayer meeting asking all who had mountain moving
faith to attend. 23 of the total 300 turned up and they asked God to
remove the mountain and provide the the money and means to build the car
park so that the church could open as planned. after 3 hours of praying
the pastor said amen and the people went home.
> 1 week before the opening there was a loud knock at the pastor's
door. he called come in and a builder entered taking of his hard hat. he
told the pastor he worked for a company who were building a supermarket
and asked if they could take a large quantity of earth from the the
mountain they would pay for it and pave the excavated area but they must
have it within the next few days as the earth needed to settle before
they could start to build.
> the church opened on time and there was a lot more people with
mountain moving faith!

Prayer is not only worthwhile, it is essential. I have seen many prayers answered in my 30 years being a christian. People can say what they want, but if they ask and receive not it is because they ask amiss.

I have two grandchildren. (Twins: a boy and a girl) My testimony is that I ask God for a miracle and he gave me two. Why do I believe this is a miracle? My daughter-in-law lost three babies to miscarriages in a period of six years. The doctors told her no more. She must have surgery. There would be no children. I and my family refused to believe what the doctors said. She tried once more. Our pastor prayed over her every chance he had and dedicated the child to God while still in the womb, we found out in a little while there were two babies. We continued praying and she carried them full term. They will be 4 years old next month. They are my world. They are my miracles from God. My daughter-in-law did have to have surgery and there will be no more children, but God heard our prayers.

God Bless You.

Well, I'm going to answer you seriously, nonetheless.
Is it worth spending time with family and friends?
Because that is essentially what prayer is, spending time with God. If you only pray in order to get what you want--no, it isn't worth the time. Because if that's your reason for prayer, you need to grow up, and can about count on the fact that the answer is almost always going to be 'no.'
But if you wish to grow and maintain a relationship with God, then prayer is essential, besides being a good place to vent, a good source of comfort and warmth, and the best place to get answers when you need them. You just have to learn how to listen to Him, and know when you're hearing the answers.

I personally believe that, to a believer in Jesus Christ, who accesses the throne of God because of the Lord, there is nothing more worthwhile than prayer. It is the single most powerful weapon we have against satan's attempts to steal, kill and destroy our, and others, lives.

Prayer brings peace to the soul, especially when done regulary for months at end.

Of course it is. God is a living person, although different from us. When you want to get to know human persons, you talk to them. One of the best ways to get to know God is to talk to Him. It's the "personal" aspect of the personal relationship. Make time for Him. He's waiting for you.

It makes people feel better about themselves, so in that sense sure. Logically it's a farce.
