Smoking does speed up your metabolism and cause you to eat less...but it also causes health problems that can kill you. It is also expensive and nasty. Quit smoking and start exercsing.

I have lost 80 pounds and my husband has lost 95 pounds and we are keeping it off. The way to do it is to multiply your weight x 12 if you are a man and 11 if you are a woman. A 200 pound man can eat 2400 calories a day to maintain his weight and a 200 pound woman can eat 2200 calories a day (in general). To lose a pound a week, you have to eat 3500 less calories in a week than your maintenance calories and/or burn more.

I use a couple of programs...see links below to count my calories and activities to burn every day. I eat at least 5 fruits of vegetables every day and my treats are Nature's Valley or similar bars. I eat mostly lean cuisines, at home, but when I am out, I order fish, chicken and vegetables or a big salad with no dressing.

It has taken me almost a year to lose this weight, but men lose faster. Join the gym...it is so much better than smoking....

You only have one body...treat it well, and life will be great.

To start off cigarettes have sugar in them! Although they do not have any calories, the constant taste of sweetness you get with every puff, makes you crave sugars.

Get off the "bars". Most bars have allot fo calories and do not keep you feeling full for a long period of time. They are the same as eating candy bars and contain just as much sugar.

Go back to eating 6 meals a day with breakfast as your most important one. Breakfast is the meal that should contain the most carbs (cereal, oatmeal, grains). Then eat less carbs as the day progresses.

Try to include at least one vegetable with each meal. These should be steamed, frozen or canned and not stir fried.

No matter what you read in any fad diet it always somes down to the number of calories that you take in each day compared to the number of calories you use.

only if you would rather die from cancer instead of fat! otherwise you have a good plan, but diets always fail, instead work on gently changing your lifestyle instead, then you never have to worry about "diets", I am doing ATKINS, which is a lifestyle change manual, I urge you to look on amazon.com and order it . used would be a lot cheaper, read it use it, you will be very happy with the results, make sure you follow the directions completely! or go to: http://www.atkins.com/
