I've lost over 35 pounds over the last 2 months doing nothing but extensive cardio and watching my diet. I would still like to lose another 20 pounds, and right now it seems to only be in my gut...what more can I do? Do I just stay the course, or do I need to do 1000 situps a day?

Way to go man... Sounds to me like you are really killing that weight problem... I would say... To quote the President..." You gotta stay the course..." Situps will help tone the muscles hiding under that belly, which will help improve appearance marginally at this point, but more diet and exercise is the only way to keep losing that gut. Be sure to phase in a long term maintenance plan for the weight you have lost. I personally lost weight a few times in the past and then subsequently gained it all back and then some going back to my old ways... I recently started making some better choices again and started losing weight 5 weeks ago... Down only 10 so far... but I am trying to lose it slowly this time. only another 100 to go for me! lol

Anyway, Congrats on your current success! Stay the Course!

35 pounds is a LOT to lose in 2 months!. I would suggest you stay the course - your gut is where you naturally accumulate fat first (and lose it last) - you've done some hard work but you'll have to do more still (it's not going to be easy).
don't fall into the trap of doing too many sit ups though - you'll make you ab muscles bigger which will push out your stomach fat and it'll look like your gut is even bigger than before.
try to train at between 70 - 85% of your max heart rate, for at least thirty minutes at a time (BUT please check with your doctor that your body can take that - don't go giving yourself a heart attack)

Sit-ups are good and so are crunches... less strain on your back. Also try leg lifts, where you lie on your back, keeping your hands under your butt, and keep your legs totally straight. Lift your legs about 6 to 8 inches off the floor, holding it for a 10 count and down. Do 10 reps, 3 sets of each.

Sit ups, crunches, curls, the works. Also walk up hill alot, up stairs, and always hold it in comfortably, not too much.
