Try Yahoo Personals... and be patient and take your time. Correspond for awhile before actually meeting someone. When you do decide to meet, make sure it's in a public place, like a mall or restaurant... someplace where you will feel safe. The key is to really get to know the person as much as you can before you actually meet. I wouldn't recommend meeting someone after just a few emails... and I would recommend some phone conversations before you physically meet as well. Someone who will love you is out there... but you'll have to find him or he'll have to find you. He can't find you if you're hidden.

You don't say how old you are, so a general answer would be quite difficult.

Don't rush into anything. Have long conversations with the man's family and friends and LISTEN to them. Ask your friends and family to have long talks with him, and LISTEN to them. Most often, others will give you a better picture of him, because they are not "blinded" by the initial infatuation.

Look to others beyond what you feel and "instant" attraction to. Ask friends to introduce you to men they feel would be compatible partners.

Get online and have long chats and email exchanges before meeting. It will let you in on his true character and intentions, and you'll really know him before you actually meet.

Good Luck.

Why is this question under "credit"? To answer your question, I would suggest go to a place where you enjoy being in. In that case, once you find someone then at least you know you will have one thing in common.

Church, library, Yahoo personals. Lots of ways. Just avoid bars.

Church.

At bars or online you're taking your chances. Also, if there are any charity events in your area, look there.
