I have an old cat. She is 22 yrs old. She has had a raw meat DIET since I rescued her at age 15.

I emphasize the word diet because I use organic raw chicken and raw turkey mixed with a supplement powder. The supplement powder is important because it contains bone meal for calcium among other things. One salmon oil capsule is added per one pound of meat also.

My cats have not become "wild" from eating the raw meat, that's ridiculous. That's what cats are meant to eat for heaven's sake.

It would be very hard to get an older cat to take to it if the cat has had only canned food all her life.

My cats would not eat beef or lamb. Turkey bones are just too large for a cat to manage.

Try a little raw chicken liver, which is a good source of Vitamin A. You should only feed that no more than twice a week however.
If you want to strip some meat from chicken bones and thighs that's OK too and that cannot be the whole diet. Without the bone you create a calcium/phosporus imbalance that would be bad for your cat.

It is not rocket science or string theory and there are groups on Yahoo like the feline future group and the Holisticat group where the members use a raw meat diet. At www.littlebigcat Dr. Jean Hovfe has an article, "Homemade Diets for Cats and Dogs".

No, not a good idea at all, especially if he is old. There could be bacteria in there and with an older cat, his stomach may not be able to tolerate it and his immune system may not be able to fight the bacteria off. You can however cook some ground beef up and mix it with some cooked rice and feed this to him. I give it to my dogs when their stomach isn't feeling well, but they LOVE it. I make it for them sometimes just because. With an older cat you want to be careful what you feed them!

oh! sure (if you forget or delayed to feed the next time, be prepared for a bite from your cat!). because most habits of cats and tigers are alike.... food and eating habit.

i know very well in my childhood, in my village some people used to give raw heat, chicken to their pets (cats/dogs) and there were cases seen that if they get aggressive they don't fear to bite any human or animal...... these foods can make them wild again.

Take care

RAWRAW be darned. Meet is spelled MEAT. Once in a while I'll give my cat bits of raw liver (he won't eat it cooked). Other than that he only gets Fancy Feast. (Spoiled eh?)

No that is a very bad idea, and I don't know why you would even want to risk it.
