CALICO BEANS
1 (#21 - 2 lb.) can baked beans
2 (15 oz.) cans red kidney beans
2 (15 oz.) cans lima beans
1 lb. bacon ends (or omit and fry in bacon fat)
1 lb. hamburger, browned
1 lb. onion (or cut in half and add 1 garlic clove
Fry bacon and lift from skillet, pour off fat. Next fry onions (which have been chopped) and remove from skillet. Then fry the hamburger until done, but not brown. Mix beans with meat and onions and put in baking dish.
CALICO BEANS SAUCE:
4 tbsp. vinegar
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. ketchup
Mix all ingredients. Pour sauce over beans. Bake at 350 degrees for at least 1 1/2 hours or overnight in crock pot on low. Doubling the recipe is MORE than enough for a 6 quart crockpot.
