I dead stopped my depression meds about a month and a half ago. All I can say is it will be over in a short period. DON"T GET BACK ON if you don't want to....just wait it out. Breath alot. If you have kids...think of them. THink of WHY you want to get off of them..and that it's for the better of you.
I can't tell you anything magical...other than time. And, hopefully, it's just a short time. Perhaps a week of strong, and it wares down from there.
I had to quit taking it because I didn't think I was depressed, I thought I was more bipolar, and I was correct. So, I was on the wrong meds. good luck, and let those that are near to you know what's going on...you NEED a support system!

Im sorry but as a nurse, if your docotr has not told you to stop taking them, then you should still be on them, when a person goes through depression, they are at the lowest period in their life, and if when the tablets have been working for a while you start to feel better, you are naturally going to feel as if you no longer need them. BUT you really shouldnt stop taking them because that will cause side effects like you are experiencing now......the fact that you are getting side effects show that you should not be off them at all.......please go to your doctor, and chat with him, you are not a doctor and cannot tell when you are ready or not ready to do these sorts of things.....inasmuch as you know your own mind, you dont quite have the medical knowledge a doctor has.

i had horrible symptoms when I stopped taking Effexor. Crying fits, anxiety, and even a 'mild electric shock' as you've described. These lasted for two full weeks. I quit cold turkey, which according to my doctor, was the reason for the intensity of the symtoms. I have only two suggestions: ride it out or taper the amount you take. I wish you the best!

Take a half dose for a few days (or one pill alternate days if you were just on one daily) - thats what my doc told me to do as sometimes it stays in your system for a long time and cutting it out quickly makes you feel lousy.. Or at the very least, eat a helathy diet, get lots of sleep and get some exercise and fresh air - I always feel better like that. take some paracetamol or something for physical symporms.

Hi.
I went through a dark period a cople of years ago,and my doc prescribed trazodone. The side effects were worse than the symptoms I was taking them for. I did a bit of research and went back to him and said I'd like to try something herbal, like St.Johns Wort, and slowly wean myself off. With his guidance, that's what I did, and came out of it a lot easier than coming off medication full stop. I suggest you ask your doctor about trying it- I'm no medical expert,so don't try anything just on the strength of my experience. I wish you well- think positively, give thanks for the gift of a new day, since many going to sleep tonight will not see tomorrow, and reach out to friends.Give and receive love.
Good luck x

Ride it out. Sleep a lot. Go for long walks. I don't know if Cipralex is related to Effexor, but Effexor does the same thing. The doctors will deny it, so don't even bother asking them. It sucks, but it will go away and it won't kill you.

You must wean yourself ( take a little less each day till off) or the side effects can be severe, check with the pharmacist or doctor to find out what specific symptoms.
