I often start with a tenderloin that a coat with kitchen bouquet and salt and pepper. I serve it as an appetizer with honey mustard and slices of baguette. you can also make an antipasto to add some vegetables to the appetizers. (Fake him into eating veggies along with his meat.) For the dinner portion, you could make a pork loin with either a fennel sauce or apricots - either one is really good. If he or you do not like port, you could do lamb chops with mint jelly. Either one you could serve with twice baked double stuffed potatoes (not terribly classy but it would give him his potatoes) or else some orzo with fresh parsley, a risotto or some other type of starch. Then you could add vegetables as well (green beans, snow peas, spinach, etc.) Good luck!

Well.......steak and potatoes!! But jazz them up just a little. Perhaps a garlic sour cream for the potatoe, or serve sweet potatoes with butter and brown sugar. Or marinate the steak in a great terriake sauce. Or a side of some vegatables that are classy like asparagas with hollandaise sauce.
Hope these ideas help.

I'd start with a high quality cut of beef, like tenderloin, that you could make in the broiler without a lot of fuss. Simple seasoning.
Then, make the side dishes more creative. Fancy potatoes...or savory rice and beans...maybe a spinach salad with ranch dressing and some grated cheddar and bacon bits. Guy food--but with some interesting textures and flavors. Best to avoid anything that looks like a casserole, no matter how complex the ingredients, until you know what his likes/dislikes are.

If you're going for romantic and have the money I suggest a nice lamb dinner. However, most guys will eat anything and don't really care so if you're just cooking for the sake of cooking, make steak and potatoes.

providing he like itilian sausage, brown some italian sausage, cut up some greenpepper, onions, garlic. put with the sausage, then add some ragu sphaghetti sauce(oh cut the sausage up in bite sizes, but not too small) then boil you some mosticolli noodles and throw those in the pot with your mix. last but not least put some butter on slices of bread, throw some garlic on it then throw it in the oven on about 450 or so and let it toast.there you have it gourmet in less then an hour!!yummy!!!tastes even better the next day so you could also prepare it a day in advanced if needed to!good luck!p.s. if he doesnt like sausage you can place it with chicken, prepared the same way(browned and cut up) (optional throw in some pepperonis)i could go on all day!you could also use steak, since you said he is a steak person!

You can't go wrong with chicken. But not fried. Try Italian chicken. All you have to do is get boneless skinless chicken and Itailan sauce. Instead of grease put the Italian sauce in the pan. Then cook the chikcen until it is done. It is really good when it is done. Try serving it with a side of alfredo pasta.

You should make something for him that you know how to fix well, So that you won't be stressed trying something new "Is it ok? I hope its ok? Did it turn out right?" and so on. If he's a meat and potatoes kinda guy then make sure that your Main Dish is meat, other than that just go on what you know about him. I hope your meal turns out well! Good Luck!
