I can't see this on any other indication of side effects. I take it at night, and it seems as if I sleep for only about 3-4 hours, then I have a funny dream & wake up laughing so hard I can't stop that I start crying! Then, I'm awake with a burst of energy. I was given this for moderate bipolar. What's going on? Driving my family nuts!!

I just started this 2 nights ago, and I just want to know how long I should ride this out?

Did you give each person the pills? You need to take the pills while in each state of personality or else it wont work. One personality gets medicated while the other doesnt.

Contact your doctor about this. Anytime you think you are having a problem with a side effect or have a change with your illness you doctor should know. It is the only way the can work with you. Communication is very important all the time when any change happens. I hope you feel better. Leave a message with the receptionist and let them know what is going on so that they know this is important. They can see if the doctor needs to see you or will talk to you by phone. If you get really bad go to the ER. Something like this may not seem important but it is. Your doctor needs to know.

It takes about 1 month for any antidepressant to work.

Try writing a journal of your reactions.
Call you doctor, and ask what's normal ...only his nurse, or the doctor can answer.

Call the pharmacist and ask what are normal for side effects, and how long to take effect.

To keep bipolar mild, you must get sleep. Yes you need lots.

Ask the pharmacist of you can take tylenol or tylenol PM, (that's the only one I know can work with bypolar)...and ask you doctor if that will help you sleep.

Lack of sleep will make all effects of depression worse.
Also try to limit cola intake, as the caffeine can make it worse.

Do you have any cd's - relaxation ...ocean ...etc.?

Try to give yourself time. You deserve it!

You may want to consider getting in touch with your doctor as soon as possible. Once I was on Lexapro and my doc swore that it had the mildest side effects of anything he could have given me, but it slurred my speech and made my sleeping patterns erratic. I pracically had to fight the doctor to take me off of it, but you know your body better than anyone, and sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Hope this helps!

You might try calling your doctor and get his advice. Or even calling your pharmacist, he might have some advice.
