Nightmares are just dreams that we don't particularly like either because they are unpleasant or too irrational to believe. Human dreaming is an area still under study and research just like the rest of the brain and it's functions. So we know very little about it yet.

We do know however that dreams are a form of playing back information we gathered in our subconscious. Usually everything we see in a dream is something related to what we experienced in the past just that sometimes we didn't even consciously notice such an experience so when it comes around as a dream we seem to be surprised.

Personally, my best defense against nightmares is to know when a nightmare is just that. If you know what you are going through is just a nightmare and you will eventually wake up, it is not as scary or bothering. One way of knowing if what you are going through is just a nightmare is if things simply don't make sense or change so rapidly without any logical reason. Even if that fails you can always get back to normal when you do eventually wake up.

It is absolutely unnecessary to worry or think about a nightmare because they are just bits and pieces of information that are not even necessarily in it's literal form. Nightmares are not at all predictions or new pieces of information from an outside source rather things that were already in your head but you didn't notice.

If it really bothers you to the point of interfering with day to day activity you may pursue meditation or yoga and such things. If it is really bad, consult a qualified therapist.

Sweet dreams sweetie ;)

What causes nightmares ??
Self transcendence from your life's
experiences, you might say you
create your own mythology from
your everyday pursuits and habits
of your existence, your inner way
when your sleeping mind triggers
the wonders of significance meant
only for you, all the motifs and symbols
and patterns you create within your
sleep are as old as humans, our sleeping
solitude takes one on our very own
night journey ...
Can we prevent them ??
Perhaps with discipline & quiet time before
bed time, clear all thoughts & relax, maybe
that might calm your mind down ....
But who knows if one can stop the process
of dreaming nightmares ......
Try relaxing before bed time & see what happens !!
If you have a B/F or husband or lover have them hold you
in their arms while you sleep, maybe that will
give you peace in your way of restful sleep ...
I'll hold you in my thoughts !!
maybe that will help !! hehe !!!!

Nightmares occur mostly because some problem disturbs you unconsciously but seriously.
Also, some nightmares can be caused by certain drugs or medications, or by rapid withdrawal from them, or by physical conditions such as illness and fever.

To get rid of them, find solution to whats troubling u, seek therapy and excercise vigorously before sleeping (helps u to relax)

Mind never sleeps. When you fall asleep, all the thoughts or happenings you encountered day time come across your mind in some different forms. If they are good, called dreams and if they are bad are night mares. You can try some very mild sleeping pill,if you want to and see if it works.General Nutrition Center sells pill called SLEEP FORMULA .I never tried it before, but I am going to try it tonight. If it works,I sure will be glad to let you know.

They say that diet can affect your dreams but also, things that are going on around you can affect your dreams. Don't go watching scary movies before going to bed.

For me, I've always been good at saying to myself in my dream "I don't like this" and wake myself up. My partner, on the other hand, in his dream says "I need to make as much noise as I can and wake Sarah up so she wakes me up" and generally it scares the crap out of me.

cant prevent them. they are actual good for us, because they exercise our fears...yeah they feel pretty damn scary which is not good for us in our reality, but it's like sex, why men have wet dreams? because the body needs to clean itself out
