and i know i'm gonna get some smart @#!! remark for it, but my brother-in-law has my daughter on his myspace page. we have asked him nicely to either remove it, or make his myspace private so only his friends can see it, just because of all those internet preditors and freeks out there. he won't listen. he says "no, its my myspace. i can do what i want." and the pictures on there are kind of wierd.... he doesnt indicate in the caption that its his niece, so everyone thinks she is his daughter. people come up to us all the time thinking its his. there are all these girls that he doesn't know on his myspace too, so i'm not sure if he is just using it as a way to get women's attention. and the pictures are of him and her, and one of them is him kissing her on the forehead.... and it just looks kind of creepy. he also has had a past of looking up pre-teen porn, and child porn.... if he wants his neice on there, fine. but he could atleast make his profile private. should i do??

OK, you have asked nicely. Now, it's your daughter, time to be not-so-nice. Call child protective services and ask them what your rights are regarding this. But first, tell your b-i-l that you will be doing that. Tell him if it takes prosecution, you will do what you need to in order to protect your daughter.

Keep a very watchful eye on his closeness with your little girl. As well you should be more assertive and ensure your Husband do the same. If at all possible find a way to log onto his account, remove the picture and delete all traces of the picture that exist on his box. I would also mind any pictures he has that he could scan and possibly any photo sharing oriented online accounts such as photobucket. I have children and I am cautious as to who gets their pictures. Not to mention I won't allow them on the internet because of safety reasons. My brother had a myspace account and did the same thing, only he wasnt claiming my kids to be his. However once I asked him not to he removed their pictures from his myspace. I also had the advantage of him being a teenager and sharing the same computer so I limited his access to their files on my box. Be very careful and mindful and good luck.

Could you contact myspace and tell them that the picture(s) are being used without your permission? Some sites are very understanding and delete pictures that has been posted without permission.
Your daughter is at risk here since you don't know what kind of people he knows online, but people do come up to you in the real world thinking your daughter is his. What if the next person that recognizes her is a paedophile?

You need to insist that he take down any pictures of your daughter. Whether he likes it or not, your daughter's safety is more important than his "hooking up" on MySpace.
If your daughter has him as a friend on her MySpace, have her delete the uncle as a friend. At least this way nobody else can link through his space to hers.
Why anyone would give you a smartass answer or comment for this question is unbelievable! Your primary duty as a parent is to protect your children.
Good luck!

Have a lawyer contact your brother-in-law, MySpace and the local police with a letter requesting removal of your daughter's photo from the website... Have the lawyer explain in the letter your concerns about the safety of your child... It may windup in court, but you will eventually prevail in the matter...

Well that is creepy. you can have your daughter remove him as her friend so noone else can see her profile but he already has pictures and you cannot remove them. you could also report him to myspace if he is known for child porn. the only way any men can see her profile is if she accepts them or if her profile is not set to private.

You can go to myspace and report him!!
Where do I report Inappropriate Content?
If there is something on the profile itself that is inappropriate, look at the bottom of the profile and click on the link 'Report Inappropriate Content'.
If the content is an image uploaded to the user's image gallery, click on the 'Report this Image' link that is under the image.
Thanks for helping keep MySpace a fun place to be!
If you give me his page URL I can report the image!

Talk to HIS mother, and your husband...
Raise your concern...and request assistance.
WHERE is he getting the pictures from??? Cut the supply 100%, he should not be able to get anymore.
If you get no results, REPORT him, raise your concerns with as many agencies as possible, this could be the beginning of something more serious!!! If you get zero help from family, I hate to say this, but that would mean that they are all COVERING and PROTECTING HIM rather than YOUR DAUGHTER who needs protection form predators...right???
If your husband is supportive and understands, you may need to move away and stop contact of your brother-in-law. And don't send pictures of her to the family anymore. Your daughter is now more important than your b-i-l. Right?

I would be more concerned about what he might be doing with his niece if he is into preteen porn. I wouldn't be leaving my child alone with him or anyone elses child. Even though he is a relative they say most children that are molested are done so by relatives. I would go with my gut reaction and steer clear of him. Your first priority is keeping your child safe.
