Go to the dentist and ask them, if that does not work then I would seek a doctors opinion.
It could be sinus or stomach related if it is not dental.

It could be a mouth infection, in which case a visit to the dentist is best. You could try Corosyl mouthwash (from chemists) which deals with gum infections, but wait 5 mins after brushing teeth or it's not as effective. (If your dentist suggests it on prescription, don't take it, it's cheaper to buy over the counter.)

It could be gas from your stomach - have you changed your diet recently? Or you could have a food intolerance. GP is probably the best course of action here. Diabetes can cause bad mouth odour, and in many cases it goes undiagnosed. A quick blood test can check for that.

It depends on what it's caused by. Some basic things you can do to reduce mouth odor is scrape your tongue of tongue plaque at least once a day (tongue scrapers are sold in the same aisle as tooth brushes), and rinse with an antiseptic mouth wash. Tooth decay can also cause mouth odor and that can be eliminated only by seeking dental treatment.

However, mouth odor can be caused by an infection in the sinuses (do you have any symptoms of this like sinus pressure, pain, congestion?), stomach troubles (are you eating garlic, onions, curry or other strong-scented foods?).

Diseases can cause mouth odor, so if your efforts to remedy the situation don't work, see a doctor. There are even 'halitosis clinics' in some areas that work just with this problem.

Finally, dieting and weight loss can cause mouth odor since you're breaking down stored fat and experiencing ketosis. 'Dieter's breath' can be reduced a bit by drinking lots of water and masking it with gum or mints, but it's usually hard to completely get rid of.

I suggest you visit your dentist or doctor. If your a smoker, this could be a factor. Or you could have an upper respiratory infection of your throat, nose, sinuses or even your tongue. If you also have symptoms of burning or tingling on your tongue this could suggest a fungal infection such as thrush, which is quite common. It could also have totally nothing to do with your mouth or respiratory system, or it could be caused by something else that you would never consider. Go to your doctor they can take a swab of your tonsils, nose, mouth and tongue and also take a sputum sample to send to a microbiology laboratory for diagnosis of any possible infection. Hope this helps.

Check and see if your tongue has a white coating. If so start gargling with yogurt in water, then swallowing the water. Yogurt (if the plain, no fruit, low fat type) can help kill off some of the stuff that may be causing the odor. Also determine if you have eaten foods that give off strong odors like garlic or onion.

When you brush your teeth, also brush your tongue vigorously with your toothbrush. Plaque builds up on the tongue and causes bad breath, as well as an unpleasant yellow coating on the tongue. Have a look at your tongue in the mirror and see if it looks yellow. Once you've eliminated this, then if the problem is still there after several days of proper brushing of teeth and tongue, then consider your diet. I heard once of a lady whose addiction to pastry caused her bad breath problem, so maybe diet is the answer.

Make sure you floss really well at least twice a day. A lot of people dont and it makes a huge difference in getting fresh breath.
