All the answers that say lots of time and love are right, take some time off work and take him/her out every couple of hours and when he/she goes give lots of praise. If they do have an accident there's absolutely no point telling off unless you catch them in the act. They are clever animals but as with all dogs will not remember doing it so won't know why you are cross - rubbing their nose in it doesn't work.
I've house trained 2 jack russells, the ***** was much easier than the dog but got there in the end.

With LOTS of patience and love. These guys are very smart and it will take a while. Ours was 7 months old when we got her and still wasn't completley house trained. Crate training is pretty effective with this breed, although you need to be sure that your Jack gets a lot of exercise and time out of the crate. Most dogs will start to sniff around and circle when they need to go and you need to watch for these signs when he/she is out of the crate and take him/her out right away. As soon as your pooch goes give him/her lots of praise and maybe even a treat or two. If you do have an accident don't make a big deal out of it, just take the dog out so she associates going to the bathroom with the outdoors. Like I said this may take a while. Good Luck!!

Just put him in the crate for like bout 1 hr and take him directly outside. That way he gets the concept of goin out. Even if he doesnt hafta go still make him stay outside for afew minutes then bring him inside an put him in the crate. An just do this 5-6 times then start lettin him out an then go 2 the door an take him out(even if it means u hafta go get him an take him by force). An every time he goes inside the house look him in the eyes(pick him up 1st) an so n"No!' Bad dog" then take him outside an place him on the grass. Dont worry he might not get it right then an there but just keep workin with him an he'll start understandin wat 2 do. If u want any more info let me kno.

Use a crate. Be home for at least a week with your dog. Don't go to work and leave him in a crate all day long. That would be cruel. Never leave a dog in a crate for more than 4 hours at a time. And have lots of patience. Good luck!

the same way you train any other dog.spend time with it,tell it off when it's been naughty, reward it when it's been good.
for toilet training i just encourage the dog to go outside by telling it off(don't hit the puppy tho') and putting it's nose near the whoopsy then taking the dog into the garden.eventually the dog will go before it sh!ts all over just because they tire of the whole telling off/carried outside thing.i know it sounds about rubbish but it works.

We tend to think of dog training as a series of steps for teaching particular behaviors. To teach a dog to stay in a particular position, you reward her as she remains in place for gradually longer times, at gradually greater distances, with gradually increasing degrees of distraction. Now, this is fine, training does involve teaching dogs specific behaviors with a step-by-step approach. This week, though, I’m going to discuss three mental habits that will not only enable you train more effectively but also make life pleasant for both you and your dog.

I have 2 and they are very smart dogs. Just rub there noses were they do there doodle and take them out side. It just takes time and patents, but be loving when they do good. They will be your best friend.
