I THINK THAT'S A VERY BLANKET STATEMENT TO MAKE, AS AM SURE YOU HAVEN'T MET ALL THE ATHIEST'S OF THE WORLD. USUALLY WE'RE DEFENDING OURSELVES AGAINST ATTACKS FROM RELIGIOUS FANATICS, TRYING TO SHOVE THEIR BELIEFS DOWN OUR THROATS. THE MAJORITY OF ATHIEST'S HAVE A LIVE AND LET LIVE PHILOSOPHY, BECAUSE THEY KNOW WHAT MOST PEOPLE DON'T AND THAT IS, WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU, TO HAVE PEACE OF MIND AND CLARITY OF THOUGHT AND IDEAS, THEN THAT'S WHAT YOU NEED TO DO, BE IT CHRISTIANITY, PAGANISM, BELIEF IN THE EASTER BUNNY, OR BELIEF IN THE POWER OF YOURSELF. THE AVERAGE ATHEIST WOULDN'T WASTE HIS TIME TRYING TO PROVE ANYTHING. LIKE EDGAR ALLEN POE SAID IN "BERNICE THE CAT" "CONVINCED MYSELF, I SEEK NOT TO CONVINCE"

I don't think there is a single Atheist out there that is in the business of proving that god doesn't exist because that would imply that there is a god that does exist. Instead, they are trying to see if anyone can prove there is a god since the burden of proof is on your camp.
Atheists are interested in the topic of religion because it affects their every day life, and some atheists were affected by it at young age. George H.W. Bush said atheists should not be considered citizens, and there are other laws, though unconstitutional, say that it is illegal for atheists to hold office or even to have such beliefs. Every day we have to abide by the theist agenda.

I'm an agnostic, but I can tell from talking to an atheist that they just get so tired or being converted that they want to kind of even the score. I've been accosted by concerters too and it can be very annoying and insulting. Listen to Holy Man by Blind Mellon. The message is clear on this subject

"Go through all the Lents"? I'm not sure what you're referring to. But never mind, this question is asked here every day so I get your drift.
I'm willing to leave the believers alone, but some of them aren't willing to leave me alone.
They try to convert me during subway journeys. (Apparently my preference for privacy is unimportant in the face of their need to preach.)
They try to put religious dogma on the science curriculum in schools paid for with my taxes.
They hang their commandments on the walls of courthouses likewise paid for with public funds, and then they wonder why anybody should be annoyed with this.
They use their beliefs to justify the denial of basic human rights to homosexuals and again, they don't see any problem with this.
Some of them actually believe that non-believers are neither patriots nor citizens, and therefore deserve neither basic human rights nor simple human decency.
Because believers happen to be the majority in this part of the world, they don't recognize how privileged they are. It's time they learned, and who else is gonna tell 'em?

Because atheists want to help people see the light. It's the decent thing to do. Plus, of course, there are very serious real-world problems caused by religious belief, and we should be trying to make the world a better place by helping to eradicate religion.

Christians can leave the people alone FIRST, then we will part. Stop trying to infect our children and our lives with christian laws, cleverly disguised so as to appear 'secular' in nature. Stop trying to design the nations into a theocracy poorly disguised as a democracy.

You're right their choice is their choice, it's when they try to convert the rest of the world and put their beliefs into government legislation that gets me involved. They don't leave others alone, why should we?
Besides, somebody has to persecute them to make them feel they have the true faith. we are providing that service at no cost to you... you're welcome

Think of it as an act of charity to help the deluded believers get in touch with reality. Try is sometime and see what you've been missing.

i just run in the mix of conflict when someone so holy thinks they are so perfect,or when the dog something,or when they try to push religion on another,or when they talk like sex is a bad thing, but it is o.k. if pastors or deacons are cheaters,so some of them love sex
