It's a male thing. Called why have a dog and bark yourself. Mine does it aswell. Better left on the floor near the basket then finding it all over the house. Men are no good at multi tasking it's hard enough getting undressed without thinking of the laundry element at the same time. Let it pile up for a bit he'll soon learn. My fella was terrible for leaving rolled up socks everywhere. It looked like we were overrun with sock balls before he learnt.

Every male animal in the natural world has a natural urge to spread their scent (and their seed). Humans, while evolved and unwilling to accept that they even have animalistic urges and tendencies, suffer from the same things. Why do you think guys take off their shirts and toss them around? Why do you think they urinate anywhere they want, sometimes for sport? Why do you think they leave their socks and underwear laying around on the floor of every room of the house? Why is it that when you walk into a guy's bedroom you can smell him? And a locker room? Whether they know it or not, they're marking their territory. It might seem so stupid to drop the undies 2 feet from the laundry basket, and I'm sure it wasn't something he actively thought about, yet it happened anyway. Primal urge.

Because you keep picking it up after him, presumably. Try just leaving it. Second thoughts, it'll just pile up ..... IT'S BECAUSE HE'S A BLOKE!!! lol
