Dogs are said to have dichromatic vision -- they can see only part of the range of colors in the visual spectrum of light wavelengths. Humans have trichomatic vision, meaning that they can see the whole spectrum. Dogs probably lack the ability to see the range of colors from green to red. This means that they see in shades of yellow and blue primarily, if the theory is correct. Since it is impossible to ask them, it is not possible to say that they see these colors in the same hues that a human would. Whether or not the ability to see some color is important to dogs or not is hard to say.

yes and No, they see mainly in black and white but they see an arrange of colors that doesn't match the reall thing. Like they could see purple for something that is yellow. Now I am just saying. but anyways, they have a great sense of smell to make up the poor eyesight. The only dogs that could have excelent sight compared to other dogs are the sight hounds. They used to hunt by sight. But their hearing is ten times more sensitive than a humans. But they have over 200 smell recepters in their noses. But generally saying, their sight sucks

I don't think so. Years back we had a whippet cross and we were at my mums and at the bottom of her garden was a canal. It was covered in green pond weed, now our dog didn't like water at all yet he ran straight down the garden and into the canal. He must have thought the lawn continued on hence he saw the green, since that day I always say that dogs see colour.
