Cider, of course.
But not that fizzy rubbish, dry and still, we still call it scrumpy or rough cider.
In the past a gallon of cider per day was part of a farm workers wages along with a wedge of cheese and a small loaf of bread.
I haven't heard the same said for larger.

Half and half. It's called a snakebite. Students drink it to get pissed quick. It has something to do with lack of money. Never mix things made from the pip, cider is made from apples, wine from grapes - with drinks made from the grain like beer, lager, scotch. Unless you're poor and want to get wasted on the cheap.
