That's just the way some cats are, I don't know that there's anything you can do about it. She probably didn't have enough contact with humans when she was a kitten.

Female cats tend to be more of loners where as male cats seem to bond very well with people, not saying female cats will not. We have 4 cats, of those 3 are female and are all very loving and demanding of our time. Things you can do with your furball friend that she would enjoy and may help to bring her around for more attention are : Brushing, set up a time each day where you can spend just with her to groom her. Treats, can be provided. Playtime, Most cats enjoy playing. Find a special toy she really enjoys and set aside times though the day to play together. This will also help to build a bond between the both of you.

Start playing dead - - - flop down in the middle of the floor flat on back barely breathing - - - after a while kitty will get worried that dinner provided might actually be incapacitated and thus will nuzzle up - - - this may jumpstart the inner healing nature of cats. May have to repeat a few times. Good Luck.

Call 1-800-get a dog. Or accept the fact that you have a cat.
You cat loves you she is just an independent creature, and thinks that you are one too. She is not going to babysit you,or do stupid tricks for you. She has cat business to attend to. Let her go. If she feels like it she may sit with you if she feels that she will not be smothered Cats can smell emotional neediness.

Simple, you have to be a source of comfort. Instead of insisting that your kitty tolerate petting, just pet your kitty once then give the food. Walk away! Each time you see your kitty reach down and pet it's head - ONCE, then keep on walking by. If your kitty is chilling out on the window sill or sleeping somewhere, leave him/her be. Try to remain just as aloof as your cat is. Cats hate this as they are of a mind that they control the comfort petting sessions and not the humans. After about 2 to 3 weeks of this treatment your cat will "demand" more petting from you. Dole out the petting on YOUR level. Even though you may crave to snatch your kitty up and just hug it to no end, if you want to have your kitty in your lap you will have to show him/her that you too can be aloof. Cats dig this behavior. It may take a few months but soon enough your kitty will be glad to see you and think of you in very positive terms. In short he/she will not be able to get enough of your gentle petting and snuggles.
PS. Once your kitty decides that your lap is a cool place to hang out ( you will know this when your kittie jumps into your lap and decides its time for a solid coat grooming session), pet only once but talk to your kitty mostly. Never push petting on an independent kitty. They, like star fleet, believe that resistance is not futile.
FYI, it took me six months to change the attitude of my pound kitty. I had a great buddy for 19 and a half years after that. :)
Good luck.

never try and make a cat do anything .... find what it likes , cat nip or to be brushed . or salty chips ( only in 2 very small chips off a whole chip it you know what i`m saying . do you talk to your cat like a cat or like a person ? try learning kitty language
that cat will do just what you don't want it to do until she`s ready .. just like a child you talk to and tell it don't jump on your bed , that's the first things they do .when you ask them to come here the yell what do you want , as a cat owner for many years it`s a bit of both bate and talk .

You dont own the cat, the cat owns you. Its something that you will have to get used to, all cats are like that sometimes.. If you care for the cat properly the cat will come to you when he/she is ready.

I have the same problem. They are very cute, but very independent. It's good to know someone else experiences that, but I don't know the solution, I think that's just the way they are.

You can't. Cats have a mind of their own. When she gets older she will be more affectionate. Young cats tend to be more independent.

keep some catnip in your pocket!! Maybe even sprinkle it on your clothes! Bet she will hang out with ya then!! The trick with cats is to make them think that they are doing what they want to do not what you want them to do!
