If they go outside you don't want them to be soft. They are rough so they don't get cut or bruised when they are outwalking and playing.

Ur dog is suppose 2 have rough paws. Its natural. But if they feel 2 rough then a little lotion is ok but not 2 much. AN plz dont put the kind that have a smell. Dogs have sensitive noses an puttin lotion that smells right on their feet is toture! Try 2 find some lotion that has absolutely no smell 2 it. Then after u put the lotion on put litttle socks on their feet so they cant lick the lotion off. An the socks also help keep the lotion on so their feet get soft. But just be very careful not 2 use the lotion but every 3-4 days 4 about 2 weeks. Bcuz u dont want 2 use it regularly or else their paws will get so soft that when they go outside an step on grass or rocks or even a small hole or crack it'll hurt their feet an they will come runnin back in the house in horrible pain. Want more info? Just let me kno.

My sister had this undertaking. She offered little domestic dog footwear and used them for the period of the iciness time while the dogs went outdoors. The pads of the dogs ft might actually shop on with the ice while she went outdoors. Took a jointly as for the dogs to get used to them even with the undeniable fact that. If that doesnt paintings you should attempt putting vaseline on her paws in the previous she is going outdoors to guard them.

There are "pad toughener" products out on the market that you may want to ask about. There's a difference between "tough" pads (strong enough that walking on concrete, etc won't hurt the dog), and "rough" pads (pads that are too dry, cracked, or otherwise unhealthy).

it's totally natural for your dog to have rough paws,
that probably means that ur taking good care of him and giving him enough time outside.
and even if that doesn t conveince you of letting ur dogs paws rough:
Your dog could hurt himself really bad (on the street) if he has smooth paws .
You COULD use lotion...if you REALLY want.
But be careful!
Ur dog will try to lick his paws.
And after you stop putting lotion on his paws, his paws will get rough again after a while.
I personally recommend you to leave these rough paws alone ;-)

One of my dogs has this problem chronically and the vet said the best thing I could do is put vaseline on them twice a day. It works really quickly and well.

dogs paws are rough so it will protect them when walking in dirt, concrete, asphalt etc. How would you like to walk on these things with no shoes on?? That's why their pads are rough
