I don't think you ever stop making an influence on your children. However they will in the end do whatever they want to do.

I don't know about anyone else on this planet. But my father still influence choices and other things I do. he pass away 4 years ago. My mom still influences me too.
When I was growing up I swore up and down I wouldn't do things the same way my parents did them. But you know what being a parent of my own 4 children I realize most if not all of how they did things made perfectly good sense.
I don't think parents every stop influencing their children. I think children just don't show it because they don't want that I told you so look. :)

I have read that we have no further influence after the age of 3. I have also heard after the age of 6. But whatever is correct, this tells us that we must take care to be diligent in those years to instill compassion and a peaceful existence in order to heal our world.

We influence our children to the day we die. We instill upon them right from wrong. Then again, once kids get to a certain age 10 and we usually have to let our actions speak for us. Kids are subject to all kinds of crap on the radio and tv, not to forget the internet.

A parent's influence is life long. But advice usually stops when the roles become reversed.

Depends on how kids take the influence remember there are good and bad influence that parents are not aware of if you watch Dr Phil there was a mother who caused much pain to her daughter but she was not aware of it til that day.

out of 24hours of a day children spend bout 8 in school, 4-5 outside with friends. that makes 11-12 hours at home with parents. this in it self proves that parents have a major influence oin thier childern. it's been prooved through researh that how oparents and rest of the family behaves at home effects a child greatly.
also how u deal with your child decieds how long he/she'd like to listen to u....

I really feel that we as parents, our actions and our words, influence our children all their lives. I am 47 years old, and I still look up to my parents, now more then ever. Just keep being you, love them no matter even if you are disappointed in them, always be honest with them. If children see their parents as a threat, they react as rebellions, if you keep open and honest communications with your children, they will most likely respect you for that.

I honestly feel that we are a influence on each and every person that we cross paths with each and everyday. So, we will continue to influence our children until the day that we die. Good or bad, it is what it is.
