He is talking about denying his teachings. We deny his teachings when we fail to love our Neighbors/brothers. That is why the reference to any man. All men and women are our brothers.
If we deny love to any of them we deny the teachings of Jesus. Jesus could care less if we deny him he is concerned that we do not deny the love that he asked us to have for our fellow man. This is a misinterpretation of scripture that makes Jesus sound more concerned with some insecurity than he is with us following his teachings.
Ignore this nonsense and focus on the teachings of Jesus not this nonsense that people say about Him.

this verse can be used in many situations. if you are the only member to be saved in your family then you should not deny in front of your husband or wife or parents when they charge against you for accepting christ.
And if you are in college or in your work spot, you should not be ashamed of declaring jesus is your lord, thinking that others might make fun of you.
if you do so then jesus will deny before the Father.

I think Jesus was talking about knowing Him (being saved & a Christian), then denying Him to keep your "friends" or to save your life, neither of which is worth losing Him. Go well, and God Bless!

I believe Jesus was talking about fronting, like you said denying Him in order to make people like you ore to keep certain people around. I lost many friends because my mnd was being renewed and I began seeing things differently. So there was alot of things that I didn't want to do anymore for the respect for God that I was gaining. And they called me funny acting and stuff, but you can believe God replaced every friend that I lost for his sake. God will never give you less than what you give up for him.

You don't need to worry..the fact that you are asking this question shows your faith..Peter denied Jesus three times and he was our Lord's apostle. Jesus did not condemn his disciple because he knew how much Peter regretted it..Peter is now a saint. It is not up to us to say who is saved or not saved..God works in mysterious ways.

God knows what is in our hearts. You would have to truly mean it.
You can still be saved by the grace of God changing your heart. I will also have to agree with the end times people that it means if you take the mark of the beast you're not saved.
And remember once you are saved you are always saved.

You have been forgiven for what you did before you were saved. Now that you are saved, if you deny Him...He will deny you.
