I am getting one in the near future and would like to know everything I need for this bird. For example, the cage size and type, supplies, etc.

- Large parrot cage
- Conure-specific diet - try Zupreem or a similar pellet diet
mixed with a high quality seed/fruit/nut mixture.
- Toys, Toys, Toys
- Sturdy food & water bowls
- Regular and concrete perches
- Newspaper or corncob bedding
- Treats
- Cage cover
- Fresh fruit, fresh cooked meat, fresh vegetables, nuts, pasta,
bread, etc. - conures need fresh food as well as parrot food.
- Poop-Off- works great for oopses.
- Bird tree - one of those big plastic or wood jungle gyms for birds to put outside their cage. It's good to have somewhere else they can go instead of wandering the house destroying stuff.
- Bird vitamins
- The number of a local avian vet for emergencies.

I have a Sun, so I will give you a check list of the things I have:
As far as cage size his cage is about 48" tall maybe a lil less, by 32" wide and 32" deep. He is very spoiled with how big his cage is, you could get a cage that is 36X24X24" and that should be fine! I would get at least 2 manzanita branches for his cage, and at least one sand perch. They are very playful lil buggers and chewers so get them lots of toys at least 3 mine also has a rope that hangs in the middle of his cage that he hangs from and chews on! For treats mine really loves dried fruits such as Mangoes and pineapple. I feed him Harrison's pellets, along with a little bit of seed and fresh fruits and veggies. Mine is more of a fruit eater than veggie. Make sure that you have a water bottle to spray him with. Also another good habit to get a Conure into is drinking from a water bottle such as the one for rabbits etc. I put it by his water dish and everytime he went to take a drink while I was watching I would squeeze the bottle so he would see the drops coming out, then I eventually took the dish out which saves me from constantly changing it due to him bathing in it! Hmmm I think thats about it, oh and if you want gets some shavings for the bottom of his cage to absorb his poopie! Other than that thats all I can think of! Good luck!

He has a large cage with a play top that opens up so he can come out the top with a lay down front door that he can stand on and tear something up on. It is about 23 wide 19 deep and 30 inches tall. About 8 more inches taller when the play top is open.

I get him KayTee Fiesta conure food because it has a good mix of seeds and extruded pellets with small and larger bites. Some of the nuts are just a little bit large and I have to crack them and he does the rest.

Get a set of bird nail clippers and a good pair of scissors to clip his wings. This is his clippers and stuff and should not be used for paper. Get some blood clotting powder from the pet shop in case you cut a blood feather or clip his nails too short. Remember to pull the blood feather out because once it starts bleeding it will not stop unless you pull it. It is like a tube and won't stop draining him.

Sunny always has a mullet spray stock of buds hanging in his cage and I give him a chunk of sugar cane everyday. He likes sugar free marshmallows as some thing special.

I get him the KayTee brand of honey nut bars that hang in the cage for him to snack on. He has lots of toys.

He has two large rope perches that mount from one side of the cage to the other and are bendable. One is a little larger in size then the other. He has a very large water bowl up high for him to take a bath in or drink. He as well has a small food bowl in the top of the cage for snacking. He has three woodin perches that go from one side to the other at the bottom near his second set of food and water bowls. He has a sand paper purch and a stone type. He as a tree branch to chew on.

I hung a wooden ladder on one side of the cage so he can get up and down and tied a rope lader on the other side. He comes and goes as he wants.

We have a see through coffee table which we put sand paper purch tubs on cross bars and tied a cloth house and some toys under there and you will find him on it a lot.

He hates fruit and wil not touch it at all. He loves fried chicken from KFC and loves french fries from Sonic or Arbees.

We give him a lot of things in the toy line and change them out over time and put them back later.

I build him a 4 foot tall purch to stand on when we are out on the back porch and put toys on it for him to try to tear up. The out door purch has round pegs going from the ground to the top so he can run up and down if he likes.

Don't forget the cage cover. it can be some thin pc of cloth you buy at walmart or just about anything, sheet what ever.

Up to you how you want to take care of your bird.

Spraying them with a water bottel is not fun for the birds. They hate it. I have two birds and if you grab the water bottle they run adn try to hide from you. If you want to spray them you will have to hold them in one hand and spray with the other .. You will get bit badly. No bird likes that. It is a punishment. I have read where people take all the food and water bowls out of the cage and lock it upand start spraying the bird. Shame on you if you do that. If you must get your bird wet try teaching him to play in the water. Or rap him in a wet towel not covering his head. dip the towel in the sink or something. It will scare the hell out of them but it is over with quick that way and you are not chaceing them around the cage shooting them and makeing them hate you and that bottle. Shoot your cat with a spray bottle if they try to get your bird. Not the bird
