This is not about dying, this all happens when a person is alive, it has nothing to do with going to heaven etc.

No and I will explain why. I am a Catholic Christian and for two thousand years the Church has produced Saints. Now these Holy men and woman were and are consumed by a love of God and a Love of Neighbour yet they do not for an moment lose their own unique and precious personality given to them by God. Read about saints like St. Francis of Assis, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Ignatius of Loyola, St. Padre Pio I recommend especially to investigate as so many miracles and acts of love and charity and wonder are attributed to him because of his prayer and fasting. Yet all of these amazing Catholic Saints never lost there individual personality yet were consumed by the Love of God and Love of neighbour. God is not a thief he don't steal your personality, God perfects our personality with his great and ardent Love. Us Chrisitans believe the Holy spirit the divine artist forms if we are open to his Grace, Christ, Jesus in our souls. Hence a Holy Saint has had his/her soul transformed into a little Christ. The persons ego or being is perfected in Love and Grace. Yet they do not lose their own unique consciousness in God. But God in his generosity wishes to perfect the ego and Love of the soul. The greatest of souls love with a perfected gift of Love from God who is LOVE and MERCY itself.

Let me start by saying that i am sad to see so many people being mean.

To answer your question. Yes I believe this is true in a metaphorical sense. light has been associated with Divinity and good spiritual entities by every world religion, that I know of, sense before time was counted.

I myself have seen what the Lakota call "Togashala" (if my spelling is correct) appear in several Lakota Healing Ceremonies. It is interesting to note that they fit the same description as Faerie lights or Willowwisps so commonly described in Native European Folk Lore. Moreover, actual healing (Miracles) took place in their presence. if you don't know what these are they resemble Fireflies but are swifter and more maneuverable, in addition to being able to appear in locations that are not inhabited by fireflies. In none of these experiences was there mind altering substances present nor was I myself under the influence of such substance.

I have also noticed that very spiritual people seam to be surrounded by light; that is they have what is better known today as a "Powerful aura." It take practice to see this but anyone can learn how to do it.

As for the Star Wars Crack. If you study what the influence is behind the Star Wars Sagas then you will learn that George Lucas is retelling the core of Human mythology through these stories and that they are directly associated to the works of Joseph Campbell. In essence each character in Star Wars is a reflection of ourselves, what Carol Jung called "Archetypes," and the story line allegorically reflects the struggles each of us face in our own lives.

It doesnt become a beam of light... But there is a circle of bright light around the person.. Generally when an individual attains enlightment, that person's face starts shining very brightly... So that people seeing that individual don't have to close their eyes due to heavy brightness, a circle of light which is relatively a little less brighter forms around the face so that with decrease in relativity of brightness, eyes dont have to strain that much...

Beam of light? No, when you accept Jesus as who He said He was, and is, THEN you became 'TRULY ENLIGHTENED'! Besides, who wants to be a beam of light, when he can be with someone who loves him enough to die for him, and forever?
