Your urologist will need to decide whether there is a way of fixing the obstruction.
No medications that you can easily take will fix what is essentially a plumbing problem.
Hydronephrosis is often asymptomatic because we only need one kidney to get by on.
Treatment for obstructions causing hydronephrosis can include - stent (a little tube passing through the obstruction so urine can get through), percutaneous nephrostomy (putting a tube from the kidney to the skin so the urine can get out - you'd have to catch it in a little bag stuck on your tummy), or nephrectomy (surgery to take the kidney out)

Hydroenphrosis, as you probably already know, is the dilation of the renal pelvis and calyces secondary to intrinsic and/or extrinsic obstruction to urine flow. You're inevitably going to have people tell you that finding and treating the obstruction is your only option, but this is not 100% true. Although ablation of any obstruction may be somewhere down the road for you, there are some medication options that can aleviate your symptoms.
Hydrochlorothiazide (usual dose of 25 or 50mg per day) can help to decrease urine calcium excretion. This will prevent the formation of new stones and prevent the worsening of any current stones. Decent water consumption is encouraged while on this medication as it is a diuretic.
Also, Allopurinol (100-300mg per day) may be an option for you as well. What this medication will do is interfere with the conversion of hypoxanthine and xanthine to uric acid. This will help to maintain the pH of your urine, as you do not want it to become acidic in the presence of hydronephrosis.
A drug class called alpha-blockers may offer minimal benefit as well, but not as much as the forementioned medications.
All of these medications are by prescription only. I don't know your case inside and out so I would encourage talking to your doctor about any potential therapies.
I hope this offers some useful information, good luck.

Only relieving the obstructed ureter by surgery can save the kidney.

No...hydronephrosis is usually something that is caused by something else...your doc needs to figure out what is causing it before he can give you meds.
