I'm 41 yr. old, been training on and off for many years, no big results only definition, cannot bulk up. I've been told It's genetic and fast metabolism. With all this technology and knowledge around us, there must be something out there to help me out.

maybe not ---weight is very very individual what works for most wont work for some --- that's just biology...
but a possible suggestion would be to allow the fat in you body too accumulate maybe not work out as frequently as you have been.
just a suggestion !!!

I'm a personal trainer (certified FTA3) and come across this alot - it sounds like you have 'plateaued' - ie: your body has gotten so use to the excersises that you do that it no longer needs to change or adapt to do them. Try chaging your workout routines (weights, reps, types of excersises, intensities, angles etc). Try doing 4 or 5 different excersises per body part and about 12 reps at 80% your maximum weight and remember to use good form. This should shock your system and make it change and adapt again which in itself will bring gains (principally because you'll be excersising the musles and parts of muscles that you aren't currently using) good luck!

i guess proteins and carbs. (don't cut fruits/veggies)... unfortunately ( for me), my husband has the same problem. while you read the other answers, think about "How small was Bruce Lee? And how many a$$e$ did he kick?" in real life and in the movies. that helped my husband, he foucused on that for awhile. especially while he's gone. now he's not where he wants but he's getting there. time. patients. will. you'll get there. VICS answer is "funny 'cause it's true"

God makes every one a certain way for a reason. Maybe you are not meant to be "bulked up". Just do what feels right to your body, eat healthy and exercise. Don't try to obtain something your body was never meant to be.
