You cannot expect to burn enough calories doing sit ups for effective weight loss, their is a programme called BX5 that is basic weight free exercises used by the force3s and prisoners when room and equipment are rare.

Too loose weight, you must burn off more calories than you consume. There are better ways to loose weight, i think this sounds like a warm up. I used to think if i did multiple sit ups, or push ups I would loose weight, but it was very boring too keep up with. If you have the determination, you can do this. But in the end you will get bored of it. Change your exercises every day. Work out the muscles one day for 30 mins or an hour (required amount of physical activity per day), or do some running or easy cardio like dancing. You will have more fun and forget that you are doing this to loose weight. Eat healthier, don't eat too much salt, sugar, or oils. Salt can keep unnecessary water in your body, thus keeping unwanted water wait. Natural sugar is good, but man made sugar will slow you down if consumed too much. Oils can clog up arteries which can make it harder to exercises. If you want to loose weight you must combine all these tips to be perfectly healthy.

Not very fast. Cardio exercising is what makes people lose the most weight. However, if you cut your dailiy calorie intake by 500 each day, that will amount to roughly 4 pounds a month, and likewise, 1000, 8 pounds. I would suggest cutting calories, and doing 3-4 days of 30-40 minute cardio exercises like the elliptical, or running. Good luck!

You can do as many sit ups as you like and not lose weight if your still eating the wrong foods or just too much. You have to find a balance of food and exercise that slowly burns off weight for you.

Sit ups aren't very strenuous though, like walking for the abdominal area.

Dont think sit ups help you to lose weight, you need to devise a diet and exercise program for that

sSit ups are great for the abdomen and back, too. If you want to lose weight, you also have to watch what you eat.
