i remember one of the people in yahoo answer said very rudely, "prophet muhammad banged a nine year old", well, the truth is:

Muhammad was in mourning years when his first wife, khadijah and his uncle abi thalib died. to cheer him up, his friends introduced him to a widow who was around his age, the second was aisyah, who was six at that time. the prophet married both women (a woman and a girl, whatever,) but aisyah lived with his parents until she was 13 or 14. even until several decades ago it is common for women to get married at that age in some countries. my friend's grandmother got married when she was twelve. so why is it a problem for the prophet to marry aisyah when she was six? they didnt live together until she was mature enough, anyway? isnt it better to marry a young girl than commiting adultery?

question is: so why is it a problem? is it just because of that he was muslim so everything he did that seems wrong can be used to intimidate islam?

to be clear,
aisyah is not the other woman's daughter. she was the daughter of abu bakar (if not mistaken), it was him who introduced aisyah to the prophet. figures, it was not sickening for him since he knows that his daughter will be in good hand and will be guided well by the prophet.
second is, i am a muslim and i would never insult another religion. if i wanted to, i could just say that jesus was not the man that was crucified. isa allaihissalam (or for christians, jesus), had been taken to heaven to be resent at the end of the world to straighten all mistakes in beliefs. the one that was crucified was yahuda. commonly known as judas iscariot. (it's in the qur'an)

First of all, it is important to know:

Aisha's parents were the ones who married her to our Prophet, and that no Muslim or even pagan objected to the marriage because it was widely practiced. And even until today in 3rd world countries (Muslims and non-Muslims), little girls as young as 9 or 10 do get married. Anyway, the reason no one objected was to the Prophet's marriage was:

1. People used to have very short life-spans in Arabia. They used to live between 40 to 60 years maximum. So it was only normal and natural for girls to be married off at ages 9 or 10 or similar.

2. Marriage for young girls was widely practiced among Arabs back then, and even today in many third-world non-Muslim and Muslim countries.

MOTHER OF JESUS

What about Mary, Jesus' Mother peace be upon both of them? How old was she when she got pregnant?

Not only was it a custom in the Arab society to Engage/Marry a young girl it was also common in the Jewish society. The case of Mary the mother of Jesus comes to mind, in non biblical sources she was between 11-14 years old when she conceived Jesus. Mary had already been "BETROTHED" to Joseph before conceiving Jesus. Joseph was a much older man. therefore Mary was younger than 11-14 years of age when she was "BETHROED" to Joseph. We Muslims would never call Joseph a Child Molester, nor would we refer to the "Holy Ghost" of the Bible, that "Impregnated" Mary as a "Rapist" or "Adulterer".

According to the Priest of Saint Mary's Catholic Church: "Mary was approximately 14 years old when she got pregnant with Jesus. Joseph, Mary's Husband is believed to be around 36. Mary was only 13 when she married Joseph. When she first was arranged with Joseph she was between 7 to 9 years old."

According to the "Oxford Dictionary Bible" commentary, Mary (peace be upon her) was12 years old when she became impregnated.

So if I want to be as silly and ridiculous as many of the Christians, I would respond to them by saying that Mary was psychologically and emotionally devastated for getting pregnant at a very young age. And speaking of "child molesting", since most Christians believe that Jesus is the Creator of this universe, then why did GOD allow himself to enter life through a 12-year old young girl's vagina? Please note that we Muslims love and respect Allah Almighty, Mary, Jesus and Allah's Message to the People of the Book (The Jews and Christians). In other words, we Muslims would never make fun of Christianity through such childish topic like this one as many ridiculous Christians do make fun of Islam through our Prophet's (peace be upon him) marriage.

What makes you believe that because it happened it is normal? In human history we have had beastiality, child molestation, and many other things of such, but we don't regard them as normal. A young girl, specifically at 9, is most likely not a woman yet (if you know what I mean), and psychological studies confirm that people who have sex too early, in particular pre-teenage, are not as well adjusted as those that wait longer.

I mean, would you seriously let your 6 year old daughter get married and then be banged by an adult at 9? You sound sickening to me. It's not an issue about being a muslim, but an issue about being a pervert (even if the general consensus was to be a pervert).

No, it's the fact that the poor girl didn't have a choice in the matter. She won't be able to make that decision until she is mature enought (which is way after puberty) but when she hits puberty the choice has already been made for her. I cannot imagine being forced to have sex with some man I barely know when I was 12 or 13. Married or not, that would have been so horrible. I am so glad I was given the chance to choose for myself and I love my fiance so much and am so lucky not to have been forced to pleasure some man at such a young age.

Uh...a prophet of God marries a woman and her child? And this okay with you? I don't care if she was 13 or 14 years old. The Muslim religion objectifies, opresses and depreciates women like no othe religion on the face of this earth. Any religion that would advocate the marriage of children, the multiple wives, beatings and be-headings of family members, burning at the steak, bombing, and arming and martyring children isn't exactly embracing the Word of God...not even the Quran. I wonder how you can allow Homosexuality, Adultery, murdering innocent people in iraq, lebanon,etc.... claiming they are terrorists and then you say Islam is a religion of terror and of suppressing women... how many of you have girlfriends just to **** them and once they get pregnant you quit them or you don't want to marry them..You only want to have sex and don't want to take any further responsiblity.. and then you call yourself open-minded.

It is really pitiful for some people who think that they can freely criticize the believers, and especially the Prophets, without aware of the serious punishmment!
Such criticism is firstly harmful to their souls, because they express hatry to a number of people in the human family who are supposed to love each other, to forgive, to help each other until when all of us reach peace and happiness.
And by such consequence, their descendants and humanity in general also suffer in a world of violence, backwardness and disorder.
I wish that this forum will provide more positive opinions for those people to rethink and to learn new lesson of love and peace.

he may have not lived with her, but he raped her at age 9. And there is a difference between someone aged 12 who has already gone through puberty, and a 9 year old who hasn't. the man was a pig. he forced his nephew to divorce his wife so mo could havesex with her. That's not normal in any society, its just sick. If you condon child sexual acts then that is your perogative. If your religion condons it then that is all your problems. I think that it is sick and twisted to have sex with children, reguardless of who you are.
Maybe Micheal Jackson is muslim then? Would it be ok for him to go it with kids if he was? No, you would disagree. Do you feel that the mistakes of the past should be forgiven and viewed differently? Then lets look at the womans rights movement, child labor laws, ect. Forcing children to work is wrong today just as it was back then. Same with discrimination against women and so is any sexual acts with children.
