I have bad ears and sinus problems too and I was recommended not to fly for around 30 years. Then a Menieres Syndrome specialist told me to take an antihistamine and decongestant for around a week before the flight,...to take them just before getting on the plane,...if it was a long enough journey to take some on the plane, and to do the same for the return journey,....that was 17 years ago and I have flown quite a few times since, followed his instructions and never had a problem...

You can also suck on a sweet when the plane is taking off and also when it is landing...swallowing helps to alleviate problems as well.

Good Luck!

Hmmmm...someone has decided to give me a thumbs down vote....can't see the reason why!

It may be a good idea,
to get some additional decongestant medication,
from your GP ( doctor ) to take before the journey

chewing gum , or chewing fruit toffees
has helped to even out the pressure in my ears and sinuses
.
start chewing a few minutes before the plane prepares to land
and i also ,do that on takeoff .

this has helped me overcome the painful feeling in my ear canals and sinuses .

I hope you have a good landing and a great holiday too .

Check with you doctor first. Chewing gum really helps with take off and landing. If you have ever snorkeled or done snuba, you can do the same thing to clear the pressure in your ears. plug your nose and gently blow until your ear pressure releases.
