I just ound out my x bf died .is there anyway I can find out what he died from? I dont get along with his family to well, and am scared to ask them. It just said he died at home, he had recently gotten married so I cant realy ask his wife, or x wife.
Would the death certificate say cause of death? I am afraid it may of been self inflicted.

The death certificate would have that information, however, since 9/11 death certificates are no longer public information, You must show just cause and relationship to the deceased in order to get one. Try talking to his family, that might be your only option. My sympathies.

it may vary from one local to the next & on whether or not the family gives consent or permission for a post mortem exam in cases other then under legal order .Even though the corroner or medical examiner usually state the cause of death it is oft times very misleading as it is oftenly quickly and cursorily performed.. this I why u see sweeping terms like heart enfarction or respiratory failure when there were many confluent factors involved I once we had a cadaver that the med exam'r
claimed on the certificate heart failure (because technically that's nearly always a good explanation and contributing factor ) however this time when the embalmer lifted the body a gun fell out from between her legs ...! u just never can tell

that is so sad. If he is young there would be an autopsy done and the cause of death would be listed on there. That is public record so you should be able to get the info at the court house after paying like a $5.00 fee. Or try this site http://www.expressvitalrecords.com/ good luck Hun
