There are many breeds that can fit that description..like for one the Rat Terrier or Jack Russel terrier or even the Toy Fox Terrier.......they are short haired, easy to house train and generally not aggressive. You don't sound weird yet so don't appolgize. Also if you want a dog that is small and naturally fastidious try the shiba inu.......they make great dogs!

I'v personally had a poms, chihuahuas, rat terriers, manchester terriers, toy fox terriers and boston terriers. Hands down the boston terrier was the best dog that I ever had. I've also taken care of many who are client's dogs.
Bostons are intelligent, and clean dogs. Also, I've never seen one who was not gentle, even with children and they are not known to be yappy. Of course, dogs are like people and each are individuals.
Beware of back yard breeders and pet shops who get their puppies from puppy mills. Look for reputable breeders who breed AKC registered pups and have experience with the breed and who breed for quality, not quantity!

The smaller the dog, the harder to housebreak. Read my older posts on kennel training.

Go to the AKC site!!!
READ to BREED STANDARDS!!!
Do NOT ask HERE!!! These folks DON'T know which end bites!!!

Housebreaking, etc., is UP TO ***YOU***-NOT the dog! If YOU are stupid,it doesn't matter how SMART the dog is

I like the Brittany. They only get to 45 pounds. Their hair a combination of short and wavy. They don't shed much. They don't bark! I have a Brittany and he only barks every other day or so when something really exciting is happening.

My brit lives inside. I recommend crate training them as they are very active and could get into mischief if you left them on their own.

Check out this web site:

Boston Terrier, I grew up with one and although they are so ugly they are cute, they are some very smart dogs. And very loyal to their master, and very well behaved. You could put a steak in the floor in front of my blue-eyes, tell her not to touch it leave the room and come back and she would not of even tried. She also was very easy to train to do tricks.

Whippets fit this bill. They make excellent pets, bit lively as babies, and are almost genetic disease free. Please read about the breed if you decide to get one, and go to dog shows, and ask breeders. Good luck.
