It's about power. A King of England left the Catholic church because it wouldn't let him divorce a woman who wasn't able to give him a son. That's why the USA (as a former English colony) isn't now a predominantly Catholic country.

All Christian denominations did NOT branch off from Catholicism. There were several other types of Christianity in existence before the Catholic church was created. Because Christians were largely persecuted in the years just after the death of Christ (and presumably hundreds of years later), Christians had to disperse amongst the nations. Each region in the known world at that time had Christian representation. Many of the Coptic Christian relics in Africa pre-date any comparable European artifacts. Catholicism came centuries afterward.
I will grant you the fact that Catholicism did take several elements from the Druids and other Pagans. This was done to make Christianity (the then forced state religion) more palatable to the majority Pagan citizenry at the time.
As for changing the rules, this can only be attributed to the frailties and fallibility of man. Watering down your true beliefs to pacify the masses is inexcusable at any time. When this happens, innocent people end up confused and hurt.

Yes, there are still many things we don't understand.
When we broke the atom, we wrongly thought that we have understood the microcosm.
When we put our step on the moon we wrongly though that we have understood the macrocosm.
And from there we wrongly seized the positon of the Interpreter of all the mysteries in all the worlds. We wanted all people to think, to say, to act like us. We criticised, we condemned, we hated any individuals or groups of people who conceived the world differently!
What would show us that we are ignorant and we need a Divine Teacher to guide our steps from now to evermore?
That might be a very hard and painful hit on our heads.
We get tons of news on the Internet and we don't know which are true and which are false.
We face with thousands of questions, many of them we had never thought of.
We face with new and serious problems every day and we don't know where and how to find the solutions, and what power can justify those solutions and successfully implement them.
Now, what is the proper attitude we should adopt?
Continue to noisily quarrel like children or to start learning more laboriously and consulting more amicably as real adults to seek for a common vision and then a common action for the benefit of all mankind?
Please rethink the thinkable, and think the unthinkable.

Which Pagan Faith did Christianity Originate from? What was their belief? I've never heard of anything related to this. The Christian Faith developed the teachings of a Christian prophet named Jesus Christ as far as anything I've ever read says. The Catholic Church was formed out of the council of Baesel in 1439 when The Divergent Eastern and Western Orthodoxies agreed that they could not rejoin as 1 church at which time the Church of Rome became the Catholic Faith, many centuries after the birth of Christianity. Are you sure your sources are accurate?

Christianity branched off from Judaism when Jesus Christ fulfilled the Jewish Scripture prophecies of a messiah or savior.
Since the Church was born with the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, we have worshiped the one true God.
The Catholic Church has referred to itself as the “Catholic Church” at least since 107 AD, when the term appears in the writings of St. Ignatius of Antioch.
If you want us to discuss about changing rules, etc., please let us know which rules that you think were changed. Thank you.
With love in Christ.

"Beyond Belief" by Elaine Pagels is an easy read about the early Christianities.
I also love the tapes by Joesph Cambell about religion in the east and the west.
People have a sense of God, but we do not have a crystal clear record of what God is or how to worship.
So we get a 'tower of babel' effect.
And "the rules" change because many if not most of the rules are mushy and culturally based to begin with.
As a fun example of cultural changes:
Is it wrong to have two wives? Is it wrong NOT to have two wives? If your brother dies, must you still marry his wife? Would he or she want that?
Even the Roman Catholics who are known for their rules and changing them slowly, do change these man made rules.

Actually, Christianity has it's roots in Judaism. Did you know that? No offense, but you're not very good at this whole "thinking" thing. Stick to 80's music trivia. You'll do alot better and get alot more respect.
Peace.
P.S. Corey Hart was a dork. What kind of freak wears sunglasses at night?

if you want to know the true history of christianity read the book "the two babylons" by alexander hislop, and a book called the "trail of blood"(look it up in a christian bookstore). it would take to much space to go into detail on this subject. the ignorant should keep silent when they have nothing intelligent to contribute.
also read books on the history of the reformation, which basically is just that, reforming(changing the form of something to deceive the stupid sheep into believing a lie).

This is true. But many Christians are trying to get back on track and worship how the Bible tells them to. Like going to church on the Sabbath not sunday for example.
