No need to ask how often it would be replaced. You'll know. An old victorian house may have a dining room table that's 200 years old or a dresser that is 400 years old. It depends on the style and quality of the worksmanship. You can also opt to refinish furniture rather than replace it.

All in all its a matter of preference.

If you decide on a style you want to live with it should last a life time. The upholstered pieces will need recovered or replaced depending on your family, what room they are in, the quality of the fabric that was chosen. The sofa in my parlor is 30 years old and still looks great. I'm on my third sofa in my rec room in that time.

Depends on your need to replace them and your budget. If they're not yet damaged yet you want newer pieces - then by all means replace if you have the budget for it.

furniture reflects you, so mantain it properly, which should be good enough, so as you go from young & trendy to mature & self confident, you will automatically be changing it like your personality, so dont worry too much about that, it will come from within
