It 's actually been proven that you can buy the cheapest supermarket own brand toothpaste and as long as it's got flouride in it, it is just as good. I didn't really believe that but they did a report on it on the news. It might not taste so minty though and for some reason brand names always feel so much better! That's the facts tho.

As Claire above says correctly, just buy the cheapest fluoride paste of which you like the taste and texture.
The most important factor in good teeth maintenance is the mechanical brushing. Toothpaste helps, but is not essential. When I was a young fella, my Dad had me brush with salt only. Got quite used to it, but couldn't handle it nowadays.
I buy a supermarket home brand, costs me $2 Australian (US$1.30).

I like auqa fresh extreme, but I also like crest pro health. colgate total is supposed to be pretty good too. I use a fluoride toothpaste from my dentist in addition to my auqa fresh, but that's only at night.

I also like listerine whitening and the reach daily flosser (I know they're not toothpaste).

The one that you'll actually use is the best one to get.

Sensodyne. It has one of the highest flouride contents you can buy without a prescription. My orthodontist told me never to stop using it.
