I dont think it matters much about what the bible says. It used to be a cool book untill men got a hold of it and realized how much power it had over human kind. All they had to do was change a word or phrase here and there to suit their needs, and they did. It worked, and is still working as it leads people around by the nose, by putting the idea of "fear" in their heads.

The Old Testament did say which to eat and not eat. But Peter had a vision in the New Testament that did away with that.
I know people have connected that vision with the issue of Jews and Gentiles coming into the new church. I think it applies to both.
And finally...Jesus Christ Himself said, it is not what goes into a man's mouth that defiles him, but what comes out. The old Levitical laws concerning clean and unclean food no longer applies. If you say grace over your meal and ask God's blessing on it, its ok to eat.

We are not to eat animal s which are scavengers.
Why? because they eat unclean(dead and rotting) things. and when we eat them we eat what is inside them.
He might not use for food any quadruped that did not divide the hoof and chew the cud, nor any fish that did not have both fins and scales, nor birds of prey, nor water fowl, nor reptiles, nor insects, the locust excepted. To do so would make him unclean.

Yes, somewhere in the old testament...talks about clean and unclean animals to eat. Like they have to chew their cud and not be split hooved...even certain fish. Pork is supposed to be unclean, shrimp, crab, horse, lotts of stuff...look it up. :)
