I want to do some traveling in a new RV this year.

Since I will be living in the RV, at which point does it change from home to a motor vehicle?

I like to have a few cocktails at night while I am watching television.

If I'm setting in the RV watching television and become intoxicated.
Is it illegal because I am in a motor vehicle? I would still have physical control of the vehicle (meaning that I have the keys).

Let's say that I have stopped for the night. I close off the front part (pull curtains) of the vehicle. The engine is running (to keep the systems going). I'm in the back part, having cocktails and enjoying my television shows. I would be parked in a desinated area and by myself. Would I be considered DUI or what?

I would really like to know. I sure wouldn't want to get a DUI. How would (or could) a policeman handle this.

Thanks for your time with this question. Mike h.

What about my rifles? I have them hanging on my wall in my home. Would this be illegal in a RV? (I like to target shoot).

The police do anything they want so why can't we do anything we want. Have a cocktail and do not worry about it. Or. Get a generator put in and you will not be using as much gas and have a lock box for your rv keys so you can show you have made an effort to show you are in control of making sure you have made an effort to not get bhnd. the wheel when you have a couple of drinks pulled over 4 the nite.

The secret is that you need to be stopped for the night and not driving.

If you have decent RV, you will NOT be running the vehicle's engine to keep systems going. You will accomplish that by one of the following:

1. You will plug into an AC power source if in a campground with hook-ups.

2. You will use your onboard generator if needed. (If you do not have one, get one.)

3. You will use onboard batteries to save gas.

Good luck and have fun!! It really is.

I am pretty sure that if the vehicle is on and you are intoxicated whether it is an rv or not i think it is counted as a DWI. Like the guy above me said, get a generator or plug it is at the RV lot you stay at.

I'm sorry I don't know the real answer, but the rule of thumb I keep repeating on Yahoo answers is that the police can do ANYTHING THEY WANT.
