Pigpen,
I wasn't sure if you were serious on that last question that you asked. Now I am leaning towards serious.

There are two 'baptisms.' But the one that really counts is the Baptism of the Spirit. God's Spirit dwells in the believer.

Faith gets that Spirit in us. Because we believe in the sacrifice and our action is to speak it forth, "For in the heart the man believeth, and with the mouth proclamation is made. You see, faith is not just belief, there's and action required for the verb form of the word, pisteuo. Which is Greek for "Faith."

Neither faith alone nor baptism is going to get someone into heaven. What it takes is acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal savior. It's that simple an answer.

So God has all these rules and if we don't do it right, and in the right order, and perform all the correct rituals we are not going to heaven??

What if I was raised in a church that believed in "communion" and refused to partake of the "ritual", because I saw it as ridiculous. Although I have been baptized and I have faith, does that exclude me from heaven?

I certainly hope not! Baptism, communion, faith....I think faith is the only thing worth keeping.

The word "baptized" was transliterated ("carried over", essentially cut and pasting) out of the original Greek, and has no real equivalents in English. It essentially means to "identify yourself with", "to submerge", "to cleanse" (i.e. true repentance). Thus, it is in keeping with the command to show your faith by your works. Do you think a stillborn baby goes to hell because it was not baptized before death? Come on now, hun, use your mind. God would not send innocent people to hell, much less a baby who did not have a chance to even breathe.
