You must have noticed that being a fervent believer in ANY religion makes it impossible to accept anything but what they already KNOW has to be the truth. Anything else would be far too threatening. And if people feel threatened, they lash out, or, at best, ignore. Some of them, mostly US Americans of any age, it seems, are immature enough only to "ask" in the hope to get their beliefs reinforced and can't cope with people rejecting , or worse still, making fun of them.

I believe it is because Christianity and believing in a faith has been scrutinized so much that we are speaking out and taking a stance.
Just like telling us that we cannot teach our belief of religion in the schools in the US but the belief of evolution is ok to teach. In a sense, that is a form of religion - it is someone elses belief. After all, Science is a wealth of collected theories. Evolution too is a theory as well as religion.
In a country where we have freedom of speach - we are being told to sit down and shut up when it comes to discussing our beliefs.
Therefore our children and younger generations are growing up not standing up for their beliefs for fear of being ridiculed in public. And they are turning to unhealthy ways trying to stay in the "in" crowd. They are making choices and decisions that they are going to have to live with for the rest of their lives. These choices they are making are far more demoralizing than anything anyone has ever had to face in the past.
So you ask why the subject is so popular - I hope this answered your question.

I tend to answer questions that I find interesting...
If I don't find what you are asking interesting then I ignore your question...
I dont care what religion you designate yourself as...
I have answered questions about Sikhism, Buddhism, Native American Spirituality, the Druze religion, and many other inquiries of that type. They were serious question by the way.

It means that everyone in the world has strong opinions about Faith, that next to sex and politics it is a topic best avoided at the dinner table.

Kirk Douglas, the actor, said that if you try to be an individual,
society will crush you. Ever hear of peer pressure? Too many people give up individuality to be accepted by the
masses.

Dont stress it, the more enlightened answers are usually ones that dont provoke(Why are christians stupid?) or conflict with belief. Just have to know where to look. :P

Maybe they're not close minded, but are tired of evangelists raping faith into them over and over...
I'm tired of it, and I'm extremely religious.
