If i buy a tv lcd-screen tv in england - will it be able to play in south africa or is it zone specific like a dvd-player?

and

will i pay import tax on it when it arrives via ship from england in south africa? how much will it be?

and

can i get an adaptor that works on both european and african plugs - 1 that i can use to plug the tv into the wall in south africa. cause the plugs in england look different from the plugs in south africa.

any help will be appreciated - thank you.

the tv is 3 times more expensive in SA than in the UK. so, i'd really like to buy it in UK if you know where i'm coming from.

Yes, an adapter is available to convert to the UK "male" type coax plug. Also, most modern TVs can be tuned to specific country frequencies so you should be fine there. Regards paying import tax, I am afraid I don't know.

Regardless of whether it is technically possible to operate a machine bought in the UK in SA, it is always best to buy local. You can be certain of after sales service, warranties etc. Besides most entertainment electrical good sold in UK originate in the Far East, so there is a good chance you will find them in SA as well
