My father does this all the time. (I respect him for doing it because it makes him feel good) The way I look at it; alot of these prisoners are getting out of "chores" that they would be doing if they wern't sitting down talking to the like's of my father. Plus How emotionally attached can you get to a god in the corse of a few hours? It seems like it would be like a sad movie you watched, it would be in your head for a week then you would forget about it and be back to your normal non spirituall self again.

I think it can work. He is trying and that is what is it is all about. We sow the seed and let God do the rest. (He may only reach one person out of thousands, but that one person is worth saving.

Exchanging assets or favors for religious proselytizing is a common theme, especially for missionaries of Christianity. What you say is true, except that few people display any concern about prisoners and visit them, so anyone who does has a sympathetic audience just for having showed up.

Also, the gullible and lesser educated among us are susceptible to conversion, and religion with its bromides and platitudes is particularly suited to serving as a valid crutch to assist these people with faciliatating positive change in their lives. So yes, there is a distinct possibility that your dad, with a willing, open prospect, can effect a conversion within an hour or two.

Spirituality comes from within as I understand it. Prison is probably not a very "spiritual" place. (I haven't had the opportunity, so I can't say for sure).

Personally, I would not be trying to convert anyone....I would try to listen to them and allow them to lead themselves back to God. All human beings have a soul and can get in touch with it, if they are allowed to walk their own path. Hold out a helping hand, and don't try to convert anyone from anything that they choose to experience in this moment.

There is a big difference between converting and helping.

You'd be amazed at how many find God just a week before their first parole hearing. Your father is kidding himself. these guys just want out of work, and maybe a shorter sentence.

even if it only brings God to one person out of all of the population, it is good to bring the Word of God to them all.

it is easy to get emotionally attached for anybody who is passionate in their efforts.

i will pray that your father brings the Word of the Father to those who might not otherwise know. and for his safety as well.

Seems to be working for Islam. There is already a hatred in the prisoners, so are ripe for the imams.
