Does this person have children or neighbours that can check on her? I dont think it is advisable for her door to be unlocked at all there are ways divised now so that if a community care worker needs to get into the house the there are key pads and locking /unlocking mechanisims to enable them to get in to care for the person.......it might be advisable for you if you arent related to get in contact with the family, if you are related contact your local agaed care advocacy service to get information in regards to safety and/or solutions to financial/social issues that may have arisen within the family.

if you are within australia contact me via my profile page, i can give you some information to help you in solving this issue.....she shouldnt be alone if bedridden.

Some cities have Adult Protective Services. See if there is one near you and give them a call.

It can happen and it does happen, but it SHOULD NOT happen.
