All I can offer is my sympathy.

I have RLS, too, and have for years. Like you, I find that painkillers give me relief; for some reason, they stop the weird feelings and twitching (eeew!).

But, painkillers don't exactly grow on trees, and there are many nights (like this one!) when the best I can do is get up and do something. As I sit at the computer, I gently stretch out my legs, and then relax them; it seems to calm them.

Unfortunately, this takes quite a chunk out of the night, as you know!

Nevertheless. They say that Restasis is highly effective; it would interact badly with something else *I* take, so I can't personally endorse it, but otherwise, I would certainly try it!

Good luck, and I hope you can find improvement...it's a lousy disorder.

I have the same problem! I thought it was just me who got it in her arms! Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my mind! I've noticed Benadryl seems to increase the symptoms for me. I'll try laying in bed and stretching my legs or I usually get up and walk around for awhile. It seems to help. I know you can get medicine for it - Requip - but I haven't tried it. Here are some tips from their website:

Consider ways you can control situations in which you feel you might experience symptoms. For example, request aisle seats at the theater or on an airplane so that you can get up easily. Break long trips up into shorter segments so that you're not forced to sit for long hours at a time.

Many people find symptoms less troublesome when standing. Raise your desktop to a height that will allow you to stand while you work.

Suppressing the urge to move makes Restless Legs Syndrome worse. Get up and move around, go for a walk or find an activity that takes your mind off your legs.

Write down the things you have done to cope with your symptoms and whether you feel they worked, and share the information with your doctor.

Some people with Restless Legs Syndrome find that keeping their minds busy with self-directed activities like reading, crafting, playing games, or having an active conversation helps.

I'm not sure there's much more that can be done. Best of Luck to you (and me)!!!!

run to the drug store and get some tylenol pm. my dad has rls and before he was put on a prescription for it he would take tylenol pm because it helps you sleep and it just relaxes you in general.
