I moved from Chicago to Orlando three years ago, I miss the food.
I am like a critic, you got the right guy.
Remember, probably 90% or more of pizza in Chicago is thin crust, they cut in in squares in Chicago. Oggis for thin crust on Grand Ave is very good, Caponies on Harlem ave, awesome thin crust.
For Chicago deep dish, go to Connies on Archer Ave. I prefer the middleweight deep dish, or just get the regular thicker pizza.
Then go to Gino's East and after that Lou Malnatti's, they will all blow you away. DO NOT go to Giordano's (sucks), Uno's and Due's are overrated, don't go there.
CHINESE, go to Chinatown. The Phoenix is really good as are many others.
For HOT DOGS and Italian Beefs, go to: Portillo's (believe the hype), Mr. Beef, Wieners Circle on Clark St. is often called (by Playboy, ESPN, others) the best fast food rest. in the country. Go there!
ITALIAN FOOD (hundreds of good ones): I love Bella Notte on Grand Ave., Rosebud, go to the original on Taylor Street, La Scarola, Tuscany's, God there are countless GREAT Italian places in Chicago.
GREEK FOOD: Go to Greek town on Halsted Ave. They are all fantastic, check out Pegasus, Greek Islands, all good.
SEAFOOD: I love Shaw's Crab House, none better. Joes Stone Crab from Miami, and oodles more.
STEAK HOUSES: Gene and Georgetti, Chicago Chop House, Gibson's, Mortons, on and on and on...
Martini: Gibson's, geez a million places. Hotel bars like the Drake, Four Seasons, etc.
ETHNIC FOOD: Chicago is known for Italian, pizza, dogs, steaks, but fine dining and ethnic food are incredible as well. Thai Food (Mama Thai, Arun's), Middle Eastern, German, Irish, African, and any thing you can imagine.
FINE DINING: Charlie Trotter's, Spiaggia, and too many to count.
BARS AND NIGHLIFE: The old stand buy is Division Street and Rush Street. River North has lots of clubs. Lincoln Park has as big a Yuppie population anywhere loaded with bars. Trendy areas like, Wicker Park have more bars, all over the place.
MUSIC: Blues and Jazz are huge in Chicago. Of course major concerts, the best symphony orchestra anywhere, opera, you name it.
There is probably no city in the world that has as good food as Chicago. New York, maybe?,doubt it. Enjoy the food, you will!

Pizza: >>Spacca Napoli, 1769 W. Sunnyside, (773) 878-2420. Out of nowhere came this fine and quite authentic pizzeria, and it has rocked my pizza world. The wood-burning oven cranks out pizze in less than two minutes, and the results are deliciously grand. Great crust with the right chew, toppings that enhance the crust rather than bury it, and flavors that are great down to the last bite. (Chicago Sun Times)>>
Hot Dogs: Hot Doug's "3324 N. California Ave. 773-279-9550. Hot Doug's revolutionizes the typical Chicago hot dog stand with a selection of upscale sausages. With up to 18 choices offered on any given day, deciding can be daunting. Options include rabbit, boar, pheasant, duck and kangaroo -- as well as your basic char dog and polish. Toppings include a variety of mustards, caramelized and raw onions, chili, cheese, and tomatillo and marinara sauce.
Chinese: Ben Pao, 52 W. Illinois St. , Chicago, IL 60610 , 312-222-1888. "The new look--lighter and brighter--adds to the panache of this Lettuce Entertain You Chinese venture. The food has improved considerably, too. Try the chicken soong and spicy noodle dishes. The sensational scallops are a signature dish."
Seafood: Catch 35 , 35 W. Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601, 312-346-3500 "For seafood south of the Chicago River, this is the place. Pristine and pleasant atmosphere. Some seafood dishes get an Asian spin; some might get a touch of Southwestern. There is plenty to like."
Martini: Signature Room: Top of the John Hancock. Nothing special about the martini but the view from the top of the Hancock is what it makes it go down so great. It's a free way to see the city from the top of the Hancock without paying to stand with a bunch of tourists on the observation deck.

Let me be perfectly clear..Read and re-read TG Specials comments. He is on the money. Gino's East is the best pizza in town. Uno's, Ranalli's, Giordano's, just stay away as they are tourist traps. An interesting take on pizza is Chicago Oven and Pizza Grinder. In my mind, my favorite place when I visit. The hours can be strange but well worth it. Portillo's is good for italian beef sandwiches but not so good for hot dogs. Weiner Circle for a char chedder dog late night is always a winner.
One parting note, Chicago may be the center of the culinary universe. Do yourself a favor, take the time to find places the locals hangout. California Pizza Kitchen and most places on Michigan avenue will be chains. The area btw Ohio Ave. and Ontario St. where the tourists hangout will also be chains. Stay away from there for good dining... good luck, Riff

Hotdogs--we have several. I love Weiner's Circle on Clark. Super Dawg is also good. Lots of little hole in the wall stands.
Martini's--lots of places--we are big drinkers--Gibson's is famous and has great steaks and martinis.
Seafood-Nick's Fish Market.
Chinese--I don't usually eat that out, but Chicago does have a China town area.
Have a great trip!

Hi! Chicago is a great place for fantastic foods. I work on Michigan Ave so I have lots of places for you to try.
For pizza: California Pizza Kitchen, Uno Pizzeria
For hotdogs: Small stand around Michigan Ave
For Chinese: Bandera Bowl
For Seafood: Red Lobster and my Fave, Bubba Gump shrimp Company at Navy Pier
I don't know about Martini places. But you can also try the Cheescake Factory, Weber Grill, and ESPN Resturaunt. (ESPN and Weber are awesome and very guy friendly. At ESPN, one of the floors is nothing but games and arcades.
Your fun is endless here.
