I thought salts are minerals and are needed by the body. Can a person really gain weight by eating salts/salty foods?

Salty food aid in the retention of water in your body. If you watch boxing or wrestling, most of these guys can weigh in about 10 to 15 pounds lower than what they actually weigh. Salt is a big part of that.

"Most of the bodys weight gain is through consuming too many carbohydrates "And" saturated fats."

Your Right!" the body does need some sodium to maintain proper diets." But" Salt is also a factor for high blood pressure and heart disease if consumed constantly."

it is not the salt that makes a person fat, is is what it causes the body to do, Satl leaches water from the body and one must drink water to help ride the body of it, in turn it causes the body to swell, but most of the time you will lose the excess weight when your body purifies it and exits during removal process...if not is causes the body to store it in your body fat and there for you gain weight

It doesn't make you fat. But it does make you retain fluid. Wherever sodium goes, water follows. So if you eat a lot of saltly foods, you get thirsty, you drink and retain.

The kidney will bloat and will give stone trouble, thereby your heart will suffer and you don't like to move very much that you'll retain more fluid than dispensing it.
