This is for the sake of knowledge only. I've heard from many a Christian friend that the only thing you have to do to get into heaven is to believe God is real and that his words are true, and POOF! You're in heaven.

Person A - Doesn't believe in God, but overall creates more peace and love for mankind.
Person B - Believes in God, but creates chaos as a result of his bigotry towards non-believers.

Now, this is a generalization, to say the least. Obviously, man is not solely lumped into two categories, but let's just take these two persons for simplicity's sake. Which would be the one to get into heaven? Does God not take into consideration our actions toward our fellow HUMAN BEINGS? Again, I'm not trying to bash, I'd just like to know if what the aforementioned friend said is true.

I phrased the exact same question a little differently;

If someone acted *exactly* like Jesus, but did not believe in God would he goto hell?

The answer was pretty unanimous..

Jesus goes to hell...unless he believes in God.

Crazy but 'true' to some people.

Yeah, God created everything, but you know he's a real egomaniac. If you don't believe and praise him for all he's done (he's capable of doing anything and everything), despite all the evidence against him, and all the things he has allowed done in his name, you don't go to heaven.

You should feel sorry for all the people born into cultures where your religion doesn't exist, because they never have the opportunity to see the light. Oh and you won't be seeing the most intelligent people, but a whole lot of people with very little ability to think for themselves.

Oh, and be nice to others and follow the teachings of the Bible, not just for the betterment of humankind, that's not what's most important, it's what God wants, so don't dissappoint him.

So keep believing and enjoy the wonderful company you'll have in Heaven. I bet you just can't wait to die now because Heaven is such a better place than what the world would be if we just tried to understand each other and loved one another more knowing working together we can accomplish great things.

Wow! Cris (1st answer)said what I was thinking!

Believing is not worshiping. Like Cris said, even the devil BELIEVES in God. You must choose Him as your Savior. You must confess that you sin, be sorry, and accept His gift.

The tricky thing to your person A, person B theory is that God is perfect, and would not be so if He accepted less than perfect. We humans are not (obviously). Even the very best of us (Mother Theresa, the Pope, or the little old lady down the street who has never uttered a cuss word in her life) have sinned, so as unfair as it seems, person A would not go to heaven. Person B, likewise, would not go to heaven simply for believing.

Since we CAN'T be perfect, we can accept the gift that Jesus gave us, basically acting as our "proxy", taking our punishment. THEN, we get to heaven.

i for my section am an atheist and don't have faith in Heaven or souls. The afterlife isn't a critical component to Jewish faith. the main well-liked perception seems to be like that the lifeless are lifeless for now, yet would be resurrected in yet another worldwide after this one ends. The extra stable you're, the extra suited your place there will be. Being Jewish isn't a call for, yet through fact the Torah is all approximately the thank you to be "stable" in this existence, being Jewish genuinely supplies an benefit. Christians do have faith that basically Christians bypass to heaven. maximum have faith something bypass to Hell, nevertheless the Bible itself only means that we stay lifeless continuously. it fairly is not probably approximately stable deeds, it fairly is approximately God/Jesus doing a desire for his friends. Telling human beings they are extra suited than everybody else is a great thank you to make your faith regularly occurring. it fairly is not rational and it fairly is genuinely not truthful, yet human beings do not pick their ideals on those standards. i understand little or no approximately Buddhism, yet i'm extraordinarily particular it does not have an afterlife. it began as a prefer to break the Hindu cycle of reincarnation. some Buddhists have faith in moving directly to a heaven or hell. Others have faith that once death the human soul can pick to end to exist as a guy or woman.

"poof" you are in heaven??? No...your name will be written in heaven....First, we have to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Accept that He died for our sins and that He rose again from the dead. Turn away from your sins...and begin a new life. This means loving others like yourself. Being more caring, more loving towards fellow men, just like Jesus did when He was still here on earth.....
Believers in God who do not show love is not a true believer nor are they true Christians and someone who does not believe in God- still needs God....he has to realize that life is still empty without God. There is a vacuum in our hearts that only God can fill. No amount of good thing or great thing we can do to save ourselves that is why Jesus Christ offered himself as an atonement for our sins/ transgressions....because we cannot save ourselves from hell..that is how precious we are in God's sight- yunesa@yahoo.com

because of the new testament, i as a christian do not believe tha belief in God alone is going to get one into heaven. Jesus gave some very strong advice that you must accept Christ as your saviour, since we have all sinned, to receive God's grace.

that said, i do wonder about the muslim and jew, who believe that Christ is the messiah, just as the christians do, but do not believe that Jesus was the Christ promised by God.

does that mean that when "every knee shall bow and every mouth shall confess that Jesus is Lord.." that they will receive the blessing of God as they have "accepted" Christ? i dont know, but i dont want to see anybody, ANYBODY, suffer in hell for all eternity.

To begin with...that entire line of thinking is wrong. It takes much more than simply believing Jesus exists to receive God's grace of salvation.

Satan believes Jesus Christ exists and he can even quote Bible scripture from memory.

The Book of James tells us that Faith without works is like a body without a soul, dead. Yes, we are saved by Faith and not Works. This means we can never be good enough or do enough to earn Heaven. On the other hand, as James points out, we do need to have good works, as a sign we are living as Christ would have us live.

Saint Francis once sent out a couple of monks from his order and told them to go into town and preach the good news..... and to even use words if it were necessary. We must try to set the example.

Based solely on the little information you have given I would have to say your friends are wrong.

The greatest secret in the world today is that the bible - the word of God - is the will of God.

Think about it.

And in that word of God it shows all mankind how to get to heaven:

Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved"

It's that simple. Try it.

God bless you!

heaven is in your body itself.
when you are in total control of your body and feelings. You are in heaven.
Avoid harmfull stuff to your body , dont give extra satisfaction to ur self , be in the middle path. help the needy . identify good and bad / right and wrong . Try to be a good person.
step by step you will reach what you want. Dont belive what I told you . Just keep seeking...seeking ...

thats christian doctrine. they completely warped the original idea of hell. hell is nothing like what christians say it is like and it has a completely different purpose than what christians say too. take your persons A and B and reverse who gets into heaven and its a lot closer to the truth.
