I would say the dog hasn't gotten hungry enough if it won't eat dog food. Table food is not good for a dog as their needs differ from ours. The best way to handle this is at (the dog's) mealtime, put his dish out for him to eat. If he doesn't eat or dumps the bowl pick it back up an wait until his next meal time. Try again. It may take a day or so but it will be better for him in the long run. You must make sure you or anyone else doesn't feed him table scraps. Some dogs can have their food out all the time and not overeat others must be fed and have their food put up when they are done. A veternarian can help you determine which method is best for your breed.

I feed the raw natural diet to my dogs and occasionally innova evo. I also feed my dogs left overs and have done this for 10 years with no health issues or vet bills other than shots and dewormings. if u are feeding rice mix oatmeal and some gravy into it do not feed white rice feed the brown. You do need to feed something differant than just rice. Fresh boneless chicken, beef, turkey and etc will be good. I do suggest u do research on feeding your dog these fresh foods and how to prepare them so u can get the nutritions right, but there is nothing wrong with not feeding your dog regular dog food if u do it right.

A dog certainly not thrive on a rice diet alone and will eventually suffer from nutritional problems. I would suggest that you buy a small bag of a premium brand dry dog food. Put the food down for the dog. If your dog turns up his nose at the food, pick it up. Make sure your dog has plenty of fresh water available at all times. The following day, offer your dog the dry food again. I guarantee.....the dog will eat. Hunger will overcome his finicky appetite! Your dog can't cook himself rice, so he will definitely be hungry. No...it is not cruel to wait him out. If you love him, you will want him to live and long and healthy life.

Some pet owners believe feeding their pets commercialized pet foods are bad for their health. Which probably has some truth to it.
So, if you would like to feed your dog a natural diet then do so. Rice is very healthy. But, you will also need to add in meats and possibly some vegetables if you can get your dog to eat them.
Look around on the internet, type in a search engine "natural diet for dogs" and read all you can about the subject.
I've included a link to get you started...good luck!

Find your dog a dog food that when you get it wet it becomes covered in a gravy almost. There are a few brands I can not think of them at the moment but they are out there. And mix in a little bit of rice with the dog food and slowly take the rice out by titrating the amount that you put in his bowl. Then sooner or later he will realize that his food is yummy and that he likes it. Or else start him on a wet food diet that has a heavy rice base to it.

rice is good and there are many pet foods containing rice I believe those with rice are a bit more expensive, but rice and chicken and rice with lamb are very popular and easy to find now. Putting a little gravy or just a little warm water on the food should encourage the dog to eat it too. You already have some very good ideas above. Good luck and enjoy your pet. It is awesome that you are asking for ideas to help the pet.

Rice is OK for dogs, I hope that you do not add nothing to the rice,, NO butter, No salt, Just Rice and water, If you add anything hamburger, you make the hamburger like a sloppy Joe but without all stuff drain all the fat off the meat and mix it with the rice. grate for dog, your vet, will say the some.

Keep at it. I only feed my dog fresh human food (not table scraps! Food like rice and oatmeal and beef) and he loves it and is super healthy. Commercial dog food is made of terrible ingredients (including other dogs)

Pick any decent brand of DRY***ADULT*** feed & that's **IT**!!!
Put it a bowl & put it on the floor for dog.
TA-DAH!!!
It *WILL* eat dog food. It will NOT starve!!!
GROW A SPINE! Aren't you bigger, stronger,SMARTER than any dog??
Oh,guess NOT!!! Dog has *YOU* trained! What a wuss.
