Good question. They climb to the top and go wow! Same thing getting there by helicopter, what have they really achieved in that climb.

Well the point of mountain climbing is to climb to the top not repel down

Because that would remove the thrill of climbing. They're not just trying to get from point A to point B. They like to climb.

OUCH..... I guess that would equate to pouring a 2001 Etude Napa Valley Merlot in the toilet.

In other words, you still get to your destination but you take the quick way and its not as fun.

climbing with pure strength and endurance is what makes getting to the top a big deal! climbing is just as a big deal as making it, it makes it so much more worth it! not climbing would be like not getting all dressed up for a fancy party.....
