the idea of heaven and hell is one of the facets of all monotheistic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam)
all religions promise their faithful that, under certain conditions, their "souls" will go to heaven or hell when they die, but the terms are different for each religion.
all religions state that those who believe in the other faiths Will not go to heaven.
That's a typical marketing talk, "you get the best deal at my stand"
the fact is that all religions are right in what they say about other religions.

All people, whether athiest or not, are given free will to exercise, and all people are born into sin and headed for hell by nature. Why this is, is a bit of a mystery, but since the dawn of time, man has been on a crash course with hell, ever since Adam blew it in the garden.
God made a way whereby mankind can avert this disaster, however, and it is basically loving truth and recognizing truth. If one is truly on the pathway to everlasting life, they will recognize truth regardless of the context, thus the saying, "Do not throw out the baby with the bathwater." Just because most of religion is full of hypocrisy and phony people, don't make the mistake of many and disqualify Jesus without actually seeing who HE is... Jesus walked our earth and spoke truth from heaven, and mankind by and large still cannot make up their mind about it, no matter how simple it be. For instance Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes unto the Father but by me." If a person cannot accept a simple statement like that from the wisest, most loving person that ever set foot on this planet, then he is still blind and stumbling in the darkness and headed ultimately for hell, destruction, the lake of fire.
You want to ask about fairness? Was it fair that Jesus had to give up his life on the cross to pay the price for mankind's sins? yet he did.. willingly! For all!... even for the mockers, scoffers and athiests... hoping that some would see, believe, and turn to God, acknowleging their waywardness and accept him in all his fullness and goodness. But it HAD to be through the agency of free will or it would have little value...

Just because we have free will does not mean that every exercise of free will is good. We've seen that since the fruit incident in the Garden of Eden. But what sends people to hell isn't what they do or don't do but whether their sins are forgiven. And forgiveness only comes through Jesus Christ. (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5)

My freewill gives me the right to exercise that freewill by stepping off a 10 story building. Is it fair that I should fall to my death? God gives us free will. It's our responsibility to freely make the right choices.

Fair? Free will to go to Heaven or Hell by one's life in it's entirety judged by Jehovah. If a man lives a good life and never exposed to any book or religion, say...does he go to hell? Does a child unaware go to hell? God takes into account all things. Allah is wise and knows and sees all things. Nothing is hidden from Him.

"because you can't have free will without having freedom from consequence"
:-O OK help me understand this... every part of life comes with a choice, this is freedom. But every choice has a reaction, this is the consequence. It is irresponsible to want a life with no consequence.
But that is not the question. if you choose to jump in the water you get wet, if you choose to stay out of the water you stay dry. Going to heaven or hell is the reaction to your action. Hell is being out of the presence of God, Heaven is being in the presence of God. If an atheist does not want to be in the presence of god. God will not force him. It is absolutely just. And absolutely what they want.

I don't believe he will go to hell. There are too many liars and cheats out there that people don't know who to beleive. I used to wonder as a kid what about people who live in countries that aren't Christian and what if you never even knew about Christianity before you died, would you go to hell? The answer my Christian friends gave me is that's why they have missionaries to go to those places and spread the word. But if I was one of those people being missioned to, I would be vary wary of this spoiled American coming into my land and telling me what is right. It's got to be hard to trust them and believe what they say considering everything they believe. I don't think that's a hellworthy offense. I believe everybody has the right to decide what makes the most sense to them and their actions (i.e. how they treat people and live their lives) will be the final determining factor of where they go when they die.

there are some very clear and strick rules, that i believe were given to man, by God. if we choose to ignore them, then we must suffer the consequences.
i chose to sit on a small gas stove when i was nine. it was in our bathroom, and it was the first time it had been lit, that winter. i chose to ignore (through ignorance) the heat from it and sat down on it, as i would do in the summer, to dress myself.
was it fair that i got burnt, just because i did not believe that it was not hot? perhaps not fair, but there is a very strict rule about heat and flesh. i have never forgot that, even after more than four decades.

No too mention , if god is so great and forgiving and all that...then why do we only get 2 choices to choose from......heaven or hell? What if we prefered to stay in limbo or something?

This is one of the very points that drove me to be an atheist. God is unfair and is egotistical... so egotistical that he will send you to hell for hurting his pride by not choosing to conform to his rigid standards. So in essence there is no free will... that's another christian term for brainwashed.
