okyah hi uhh i encrypted some files on my comp the programs folder. so now i got the security tab to come up but i still cant decrypt the files. when i try it says that its access is denied. also when i go to the security tab i try to give permissions to creator but then i click apply the boxes uncheck themselves. please help

If you are logged in as admin AND admin is the user who encrypted (usually it is not), then you shouldn't have any trouble. If though you need to mention specifics ... it isn't just the security tab and permissions, as an admin you need to take over possession of the files, only then you, as an admin, can encrypt.

And this, taking possession can only be done by the main admin (thevery first created on a system). So if you have installed windows years ago and don't know you real admin password any more (not the one of the user with admin rights), then you will have bad luck

be sure that u logged in as the same user u used to encrypt the files.
